Quick answer
What is GetResponse, and is it worth paying for?
GetResponse is an email marketing platform that bundles newsletters, autoresponders, automation workflows, landing pages, popups and, on higher plans, webinars, online courses and a website builder. It's worth paying for if you want email plus webinars or courses without stitching tools together, or a low-cost sender with unlimited sends. Starter costs $19 a month ($15.58 billed yearly) for 1,000 contacts, Marketer $59 and Creator $69, checked on GetResponse's pricing page on October 14, 2026; a free plan covers 500 contacts and 2,500 newsletters a month. Note the gates: Starter allows one custom automation workflow, webinars start on Creator, and GetResponse doesn't issue refunds.
- Best for
- Small businesses, coaches and ecommerce stores that want email and automation plus webinars or paid courses from one vendor.
- Skip it if
- You need SMS on a mid-tier plan, a refund window, or CRM-depth automation; those point to Brevo, Kit or ActiveCampaign.
- Strongest capability
- Breadth per dollar: unlimited sends on every paid plan, unlimited automation workflows from Marketer, and webinars, courses and websites on Creator.
- Biggest limitation
- Plan gates and terms: one automation workflow and three AI uses on Starter, webinars only from Creator, SMS only on Enterprise, and no refunds even on annual plans.
The Verdict
GetResponse covers a lot for a small team. Every paid plan sends unlimited email with landing pages, signup forms and popups; Marketer ($59 for 1,000 contacts) adds unlimited automation workflows, abandoned-cart flows, sales funnels and web push; and Creator ($69) adds webinars for 100 attendees, a course creator, premium newsletters with no transaction fee and a website builder. A free plan for 500 contacts and an MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT on every plan round it out. The trade-offs are plan gates and policy: Starter allows one custom workflow and three uses of each AI generator, SMS is Enterprise-only, prices climb with list size, and the refund policy says GetResponse doesn't issue refunds, annual plans included. Its pages also disagree on support hours and Creator's student limit. We score GetResponse 8.5/10.
Best for
Small businesses and creators who want email, automation and webinars or courses in one subscription, priced by list size.

The Background
What Is GetResponse?
GetResponse is an email marketing platform from GetResponse S.A., a joint-stock company registered in Gdańsk, Poland. Its about page dates the company to 1998 and claims more than 350,000 customers in 183 countries; those are its own figures. You build lists with forms, popups and landing pages, send newsletters and autoresponders, and build automation workflows triggered by events, purchases or page visits. Higher plans add live and on-demand webinars, a course creator, paid newsletters and websites, and the Enterprise plan (sold as GetResponse MAX) adds SMS, transactional email and a dedicated IP. GetResponse retired its earlier plan names (Email Marketing, Marketing Automation, Ecommerce Marketing and Content Monetization) for Starter, Marketer, Creator and Enterprise.
The Product
GetResponse Features: What You Actually Get
Email, autoresponders and AI writing
Every plan includes a drag-and-drop editor, A/B tests, send-time tools (Perfect Timing and Time Travel), RSS-to-email and autoresponders. The AI email, subject-line and landing-page generators, which GetResponse says are powered by the technology behind ChatGPT, are limited to three uses each on Starter.
A bakery sends a weekly newsletter with Time Travel, so subscribers in each time zone get it at 9 a.m. their time.
Automation workflows
Starter allows one custom automation workflow; Marketer and up allow unlimited workflows with event, purchase, abandoned-cart and visited-URL triggers, plus contact scoring and tagging. In August 2026 GetResponse added an AI tool that finds automation templates for a goal.
An online store on Marketer sends a three-step abandoned-cart sequence with a discount code on the last email.
Webinars
Creator adds built-in webinars for 100 attendees with 3 presenters and 3 hours of recording storage, including paid and on-demand webinars and webinar funnels; Enterprise raises that to 1,000 attendees and 20 hours. The free plan allows webinars for 10 people. Starter and Marketer have none, even though the webinar page headlines 1,000 live attendees.
A consultant on Creator runs a monthly 60-minute webinar, records it, and sends the replay to registrants automatically.
Courses, paid newsletters and websites
Creator also includes a course creator, premium (paid) newsletters with 0% GetResponse transaction fees and a website builder for 5 sites. The free plan's course tool is limited to 250 students and courses can't be sold.
A language tutor sells a self-paced course and a paid weekly newsletter from the same account that sends her free lessons.
Integrations, API and MCP
GetResponse has an API and SMTP, ecommerce integrations for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and PrestaShop, Stripe and PayPal, Zapier, and CRM connections to Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics 365. Since October 5, 2026 an MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT is free on every plan.
A Shopify store syncs customer tags into GetResponse and asks Claude, through the MCP connector, to summarize last month's campaign results.

The Numbers
GetResponse Pricing: Every Plan Explained
GetResponse prices by plan and list size. Prices below are for 1,000 contacts from GetResponse's pricing page, checked October 14, 2026, in USD as shown to US visitors (other regions see EUR); annual prices are shown as a monthly figure billed for 12 months upfront.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Included Features | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 500 contacts, 2,500 newsletters a month, GetResponse badge on emails, landing pages up to 1,000 visitors a month, webinars for 10, courses for 250 students (not for sale); no card required | Very small lists |
| Starter | $19/mo | $15.58/mo | Unlimited sends, 3 users, landing pages, forms and popups, 1 custom automation workflow, AI generators up to 3 uses each, free custom domain on the yearly plan; $54 at 5,000 contacts and $79 at 10,000 (monthly) | Newsletters and simple autoresponders |
| MarketerBest value | $59/mo | $48.38/mo | Everything in Starter plus 5 users, unlimited automation workflows, advanced segmentation, abandoned cart, sales funnels, promo codes, revenue reports, web push; $95 at 5,000 and $114 at 10,000 (monthly) | Automation and ecommerce |
| Creator | $69/mo | $56.58/mo | Everything in Marketer plus webinars (100 attendees, 3 presenters, 3 hrs recordings), course creator, premium newsletters with 0% fees, website builder (5 sites); $109 at 5,000 and $134 at 10,000 (monthly) | Creators selling courses or webinars |
| Enterprise (MAX) | Custom | Custom | Unlimited users, webinars for 1,000, 10 websites, SMS (5,000 free), mobile push, transactional email, dedicated IP and domain, SSO, phone and Slack support, dedicated Customer Experience Manager; 24-month billing and a 30-day pilot after a demo | High-volume senders |
At 1,000 contacts GetResponse is competitive: Starter at $19 a month with unlimited sends undercuts Mailchimp's comparable band, and Creator at $69 is cheap for email plus webinars and courses. The gap narrows as lists grow, because every plan is priced by contacts; Marketer is $114 a month at 10,000. Annual billing saves 18% and is charged upfront, and completing the in-app Get Started checklist adds 10% off for 12 months, per the help center. Nonprofits get 50% off monthly plans. The bigger caveat is the refund policy: GetResponse says it doesn't issue refunds and makes no exceptions, annual plans included, and the terms (effective September 24, 2026) say you owe the full billing period after cancelling. The 14-day trial needs no card, so use it before paying.

Where GetResponse's own pages differ
Support hours: the homepage, features page and support page say 24/7 support. The support page also lists email Monday to Friday with replies within 24 hours and English live chat Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; the pricing FAQ says email is 24/7 and English chat runs 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at weekends (GMT+1). Only the chatbot is described as available around the clock everywhere.
Limits and billing: Creator's plan card says up to 500 course students while the comparison table on the same page says up to 40,000. The pricing page offers 24-month billing only on Enterprise, while a help article says the checklist discount combines with annual and biennial discounts. The webinar page headlines up to 1,000 live attendees, which is the Enterprise figure; Creator is capped at 100.

The Methodology
How We Reviewed GetResponse
This is an editorial review, not a documented hands-on test. We didn't use a GetResponse account for this review. It's based on GetResponse's pricing page (plan cards, comparison table, FAQ and per-contact prices), features, support, webinar, SMS and AI email generator pages, about page, What's New log, terms of service (effective September 24, 2026), and help-center articles on the free account, plan history, discounts and refunds, all checked on October 14, 2026. Where GetResponse's pages differ, we report both statements. No deliverability, open-rate or webinar-quality results are claimed.
Our editorial evaluation considers product information, official documentation, pricing, features and professional experience. It is not a claim of documented hands-on testing.

The Field
GetResponse vs The Competition
GetResponse competes with email marketing platforms and creator tools. Prices below were checked on each vendor's pricing page on October 14, 2026, using US pricing at about 1,000 contacts where the vendor prices by list size.
| Tool | Starting Price | Free plan | Best Feature | BS Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GetResponse | Free; Starter $15.58/mo billed yearly ($19 monthly) | Yes | Email, autoresponders and AI writing | 8.5/10 |
| Mailchimp | Free under 250 contacts; Essentials $26.50/mo for 501-1,500 contacts | Yes | Familiar editor and a large integration catalog | 8.4/10 |
| Brevo | Free (300 emails a day); Starter $9/mo ($8.08 billed yearly) | Yes | Prices by email volume, not contacts | 8.7/10 |
| ActiveCampaign | Starter $15/mo billed annually (1,000 contacts) | No | Deeper automation and CRM | 8.7/10 |
| Kit | Free up to 10,000 subscribers; Creator $33/mo billed yearly ($39 monthly) | Yes | Creator-focused email with a large free plan | 9/10 |
Mailchimp: Mailchimp prices 1,000 contacts in its 501-1,500 band: Essentials $26.50 and Standard $45 a month, both above GetResponse's Starter and Marketer. Its free plan stops at 250 contacts.Read our Mailchimp review →
Brevo: Brevo charges by emails sent rather than contacts, with Starter from 5,000 emails a month, which suits large lists that send rarely. GetResponse's unlimited sends suit smaller lists that send often.Read our Brevo review →
ActiveCampaign: ActiveCampaign's Starter has 1 user and 5 actions per automation, so it's more limited at the entry level, but its higher plans go deeper on CRM-driven automation. It advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee; GetResponse doesn't refund.Read our ActiveCampaign review →
Kit: Kit's free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers and its Creator plan includes SMS. GetResponse offers webinars and courses that Kit doesn't, but a much smaller free plan.Read our Kit review →
In The Wild
How People Actually Use GetResponse
A newsletter-only small business
Start on Free for up to 500 contacts, then Starter ($19, or $15.58 billed yearly) for unlimited sends. Move to Marketer only when you need more than one automation workflow.
A coach selling a course
Creator ($69 at 1,000 contacts) covers the email list, a monthly webinar for up to 100 people and the course itself, with no GetResponse fee on course or newsletter sales.
An online store
Marketer ($59) adds abandoned-cart flows, promo codes and revenue reports. Connect Shopify or WooCommerce during the 14-day trial to check product data syncs before paying, since there are no refunds.
The Ecosystem
GetResponse Integrations
GetResponse connects to ecommerce platforms, payment providers, CRMs and automation tools, and offers an API, SMTP and an MCP connector.
- →Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and PrestaShop
- →Stripe and PayPal
- →Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics 365
- →Zapier
- →API and SMTP
- →MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT (every plan)
SMS, transactional email, mobile push and SSO are Enterprise features. The ecommerce integrations work on every plan, but abandoned-cart and revenue features need Marketer or above.

GetResponse is a strong value for small lists that want more than email: unlimited sends, real automation from Marketer, and webinars, courses and websites on Creator for $69 at 1,000 contacts. We score GetResponse 8.5/10.

You want email, automation and webinars or courses from one vendor for a list of a few thousand contacts.
No, if
