What Is Lovable?
Lovable is an AI-powered web app builder that lets you create production-ready full-stack applications by describing them in plain English. You start with a chat prompt — 'build me a habit tracker with daily streaks and a leaderboard' — and Lovable generates a working app. Projects created since May 13, 2026 run on TanStack Start, a React framework with server-side rendering (older projects use React + Vite), backed by Lovable Cloud — a built-in backend on Supabase's open-source foundation with a PostgreSQL database, authentication, storage, realtime, and edge functions. You can connect your own Supabase project instead. The output is real, exportable code that you own; you can edit it directly in the in-browser editor, push it to your own GitHub repo, and deploy it to your own infrastructure if you want. Lovable launched in November 2024, and the company says it passed $100M in annual recurring revenue in July 2025, eight months after reaching its first $1M. The 2026 version of the product handles backend, auth, payments (built-in payments on paid plans, or your own Stripe account), file storage, edge functions, and a growing connector catalog — well beyond the 'static landing page generator' demos that defined the early AI builder category.

Lovable Features: What You Actually Get
Prompt-to-app generation
Describe what you want and Lovable generates the full app — UI, components, routing, database schema, and auth. The output is real React code you can read, edit, and own. The first generation is rarely perfect, but the iteration loop (chat to refine) is fast. Plan-mode messages cost 1 credit; build-mode costs vary by task, and Lovable's own examples range from 0.50 credits for a button style change to 1.70 for a landing page with generated images.

Lovable Cloud is on by default: a PostgreSQL database, authentication, storage, realtime, and edge functions, built on Supabase's open-source foundation, with no separate Supabase signup. For new projects you can connect your own Supabase project instead; there is no one-click migration from Cloud to your own Supabase later. On monthly plans, unused credits expire two months after they're issued (one extra month of rollover); on annual plans, one month after the plan year ends. Top-ups cost $15 per 50 credits ($0.30 each) and last 12 months.
