    Quick answer

What is Metricool, and is it worth paying for?

Metricool is a social media management tool from Madrid-based Metricool Software that schedules posts, tracks analytics and competitors, collects messages in one inbox, builds reports and manages Meta, Google and TikTok Ads. Plans are priced by brand (one business or client, with one profile per network), not by user or channel. It's worth paying for if you manage several brands and want analytics and client reports alongside scheduling. The Free plan covers 1 brand and 20 posts a month; Starter starts at $20 a month billed annually ($25 monthly) for up to 5 brands, checked on Metricool's pricing page on October 13, 2026. X accounts cost $10 a month each on top.

    Best for
Freelance social media managers and small agencies handling 5 to 50 brands who need scheduling, analytics, competitor tracking and PDF reports in one place.
    Skip it if
You post mainly to X, need team seats on a budget plan, or want enterprise customer-care and listening tools; Starter has a single login and X costs extra per account.
    Strongest capability
Breadth for the price: unlimited-history analytics, up to 100 competitors, ad campaign reporting and creation, an inbox, link-in-bio and reports on Starter.
    Biggest limitation
Add-ons and plan gates: team members, approvals, the API, Zapier and Data Studio need Advanced, X needs a paid add-on, and full Studio and dashboard use needs the Advanced Analytics add-on.

    The Verdict

Metricool gives more analytics and reporting per dollar than most schedulers. Its Starter plan, from $20 a month billed annually for up to 5 brands, includes unlimited scheduling under a fair use policy, analytics with unlimited history, up to 100 competitors, PDF and PPT reports, link-in-bio pages, the inbox, Canva and Google Drive. Meta, Google and TikTok Ads connect on every plan, and Metricool can create Meta and Google campaigns itself. Its MCP server lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT read data and schedule posts. The trade-offs are in the gating. Starter has one login, so teams, client approvals, the API, Zapier and Data Studio need Advanced (from $53 a month billed annually). X accounts cost $10 a month each, AI credits are limited per brand, and the reporting tools launched in 2026 are capped without a paid add-on. Refunds are limited to 15 days after a first purchase. We score Metricool 8.7/10.

    The Background

    What Is Metricool?

Metricool (metricool.com) is run by Metricool Software, S.L., a company registered in Madrid, Spain. It started in 2014 as Bloggerespacio, took the Metricool name in 2015 and joined the team.blue group in 2024, according to its About page. The product covers planning and auto-publishing, analytics, competitor analysis, an inbox, reporting (Reports, Campaign Dashboards, the AI-driven Metricool Studio and a Data Studio connector), SmartLinks link-in-bio pages, Flows comment-to-DM automation and ad campaign management. Its unit of pricing is the brand: one business or client with one profile per social network or ad platform. Metricool says more than 4 million professionals use it (its MCP page says 3.5 million or more); those are its own figures.

    The Product

Metricool Features: What You Actually Get

    Planner and auto-publishing

The planner schedules to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, Twitch, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile, with X through a paid add-on. It suggests best times, supports recurring posts, CSV and RSS autolists, PDFs on LinkedIn, polls and trending audio on Reels (May 2026). Free allows 20 posts a month; paid plans are unlimited, but Metricool's fair use policy manually reviews brands above 600 posts a month and can pause posting during the check.

A freelancer bulk-loads a month of posts for three clients from a CSV and lets Metricool publish each one at the network's best time.

    Analytics and competitor tracking

Analytics keep 30 days of history on Free and unlimited history on paid plans (30 days for X). Free tracks 5 fixed competitors on Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky and Twitch that can't be swapped; paid plans track up to 100, with Threads competitors added in May 2026. September 2026 updates added YouTube engaged views, Instagram followers gained and lost, and Collab post metrics.

An agency compares a restaurant client's Instagram engagement with five local competitors before a monthly review.

Reporting: Reports, Campaign Dashboards and Studio

Paid plans download PDF and PPT reports and can schedule monthly automated sending; custom templates need Advanced. Campaign Dashboards group posts and ads by campaign, and Metricool Studio answers plain-language questions with charts. Without the Advanced Analytics add-on (from $12 a month on Starter, $36 on Advanced), you get 3 dashboards and 2 Studio views. The add-on allows full use and 30 days of detailed post analytics.

A consultant builds a Black Friday campaign dashboard combining organic posts and Meta Ads and shares it with the client by public link.

    Ads management

Meta Ads, Google Ads and TikTok Ads accounts connect on every plan, one per brand. Metricool reports on campaigns, lets you pause or reactivate them and can create Meta and Google campaigns with images (video isn't supported), confirmed by an emailed 8-digit code. Paid plans sync ad data daily, except TikTok Ads, according to the help center.

A small business owner launches a Google Ads campaign from Metricool and reviews its results next to organic posts in one report.

    AI assistant, Flows and MCP

The AI assistant writes post copy, hashtags and alt text with credits per brand each month (5 on Free, 20 on Starter, 35 on Advanced; one credit is about 600 words under the terms). Alt text is unlimited on Advanced and Custom. Flows turns Instagram comments, DMs and story replies into automated DMs, moderates TikTok comments and reposts on X, at no extra cost on paid plans for a limited time. The MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Make and n8n access to more than 20 tools.

A creator sets a Flow so anyone who comments GUIDE on a Reel gets a DM with a download link, then asks Claude which Reels drove the most comments.

    Metricool Pricing: Every Plan Explained

For a freelancer with 5 brands, Starter costs $240 a year billed annually, or $300 billed monthly; adding X for all 5 brands adds $600 a year, more than doubling the bill (our arithmetic from Metricool's listed prices). Agencies that need a second login jump to Advanced at $53 a month billed annually. Metricool's terms (updated April 1, 2026) renew plans automatically for the same period and give at least 15 days' notice of a price increase before a renewal. Its refund policy allows a full refund only within 15 calendar days of a first purchase; renewals aren't refundable, and cancelling an annual plan mid-cycle gives no prorated refund. You keep access to the end of the period, then drop to Free, which keeps only your oldest brand. Deleting your account doesn't cancel the subscription. Trial codes convert to paid automatically unless cancelled, and plans bought in the mobile app (Starter Mobile 5, monthly only, X included) are refunded through Apple or Google.

Who runs Metricool and where your data is stored

Metricool Software, S.L. is registered in Madrid (VAT ESB87527115) and has been part of the team.blue group since 2024; its privacy policy names team.blue N.V. as a joint controller for some account data. The policy says Metricool stores all data on servers within the European Union and makes no international transfers. For brand data you connect, Metricool acts as your data processor under the GDPR.

The terms are governed by Spanish law with Madrid courts for disputes, though consumers keep the protection of their home country's mandatory rules. Prices exclude VAT; US customers get a W-8BEN-E rather than a W-9 from the billing help page. Metricool's terms say its AI providers are contractually barred from training on your inputs and outputs.

    Where Metricool's own pages differ

MCP on Free: the pricing page, the MCP page and the help article on plans say Metricool MCP works on every plan, including Free. The terms (April 1, 2026) describe MetriLAB AI, the MCP connection, as available only on paid plans.

Reporting limits without the add-on: the pricing page's table shows detailed analytics for the first 15 days on Starter, Advanced and Custom, and 2 Studio views with 5 versions. The Advanced Analytics help article says the 15 days apply to Advanced only and allows up to 10 versions per view. The pricing page calls it 3 dashboards per plan; the help article says 3 per brand.

User count and limits: the About page says more than 4 million professionals use Metricool, while the MCP page says 3.5 million or more. The About page also says Free is 'Forever free. No limits.', while the pricing page and help center cap it at 20 posts a month and 30 days of analytics.

Team roles: the terms list Client, Content Creator, Analyst, Editor and Administrator; the user-management help article lists Analyst, Editor, Manager, Content Creator and Client.

    The Audience

    Who Should Use Metricool?

Best for: freelance social media managers

One person handling up to 5 or 10 client brands gets scheduling, analytics, competitor tracking and downloadable reports on Starter, which costs less per brand than per-channel or per-seat tools.

Best for: small agencies that report to clients

Advanced adds team roles, client approvals, custom report templates and the Data Studio connector across 15 to 50 brands, with ad reporting in the same place.
