    Quick answer

Is Hootsuite worth it in 2026?

Hootsuite is a social media management platform: you schedule posts to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Threads, Pinterest and Bluesky, answer messages in a shared inbox, report on performance, and track brand mentions. It's worth it for teams that manage many accounts and need the inbox, approvals and competitor reporting together. It's expensive for a solo creator or small business that mainly schedules posts: plans cost $99, $199 and $399 per user a month billed annually ($149, $299 and $499 monthly), there's no free plan, and annual payments aren't refundable. Prices were checked on Hootsuite's plans page on October 13, 2026.

    Best for
Social and marketing teams handling many brands or accounts that need an inbox, approvals and reporting in one place.
    Skip it if
You mainly schedule posts for a few channels; Buffer has a free plan and paid plans from $5 per channel a month.
    Strongest capability
Breadth: scheduling, a unified inbox with automations, competitor benchmarking and social listening in one platform, with Talkwalker-powered listening on Enterprise.
    Biggest limitation
Price per user. Every seat costs the plan rate, approvals need Advanced ($399 billed annually), and annual plans are a non-refundable one-year commitment.

    The Verdict

Hootsuite is one of the most complete social media management platforms: unlimited scheduling across the major networks, a unified inbox with automations on Professional, competitor benchmarking, built-in listening and, on Enterprise, Talkwalker-powered listening across 150 million sources. Its June 2026 relaunch as Social OS added Wisdom, an AI assistant for captions, ideas and replies, and MCP connectors. The cost is the problem for smaller teams. Plans are priced per user, from $99 a month billed annually for Standard (10 social accounts) to $399 for Advanced, which is where approval workflows start. There's no free plan, and annual plans are a non-refundable one-year commitment. Hootsuite's own pages also disagree on the Advanced price and the trial length. We score Hootsuite 8.2/10.

    The Background

    What Is Hootsuite?

Hootsuite, based in Vancouver, has sold social media management software since 2008; co-founder Ryan Holmes returned as CEO in 2026. On June 24, 2026 it relaunched its product as Hootsuite Social OS, made of five apps: Wisdom (the AI assistant), Perch (planning and publishing), Nest (inbox and customer care), Lumen by Talkwalker (social listening) and Parliament (employee advocacy). Older names such as OwlyWriter AI, Amplify and Hootsuite Listening still appear on some Hootsuite pages. It supports Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Threads, Pinterest and Bluesky, plus WhatsApp in the inbox. Hootsuite bought Talkwalker in 2024 and says 600+ of the Fortune 1000 use its software; that's its own figure.

    The Product

Hootsuite Features: What You Actually Get

    Publishing (Perch)

Every plan includes unlimited scheduling and Bulk Composer for up to 350 posts per CSV file, with Canva and Adobe Express built into the composer. Standard covers 10 social accounts; Professional and above are unlimited. Bluesky publishing arrived in September 2025. During a trial, posting is capped at 10 to 20 posts per organization a day and bulk scheduling is off.

A social manager plans a month of posts for six brands in one calendar and bulk-uploads product launches from a spreadsheet.

    Inbox and customer care (Nest)

All plans have a unified inbox and saved replies. Professional adds DM automations, auto-responses and inbox data export; Advanced adds message assignment, skill-based routing, CSAT surveys and productivity reports. WhatsApp and TikTok business messages come into the same inbox.

A support team routes Instagram DMs about orders to one agent and complaints to another, and measures response times weekly.

    Analytics and benchmarking

Standard benchmarks 5 competitors; Professional and Advanced benchmark 20 and add custom reports, scheduled reports and PDF or PowerPoint export. Advanced adds CSV and Excel export, your logo on reports and sending reports to external email; Enterprise adds ROI reporting and social attribution.

An agency sends each client a branded monthly report comparing engagement with three named competitors.

    Listening (Lumen by Talkwalker)

Standard includes a 7-day Quick Search; Professional and Advanced extend it to 30 days with exports and trend forecasting. Full Lumen by Talkwalker (150 million+ sources in 187 languages, 13 months of history, alerts, review monitoring) is Enterprise only, sold through sales with no published add-on price.

A brand team on Enterprise sets alerts for spikes in negative mentions of a product name across news, forums and social.

    Wisdom AI

Wisdom generates captions, hashtags and post ideas on every plan, with smart replies from Professional. Standard, Professional and Advanced include 100 AI credits a month; Enterprise is custom. Hootsuite's launch blog says Wisdom started in Perch and Lumen, with Nest and Parliament to follow, and MCP connectors are available for Perch, Nest and Lumen.

A small team asks Wisdom for five caption variations for a product post, picks one and schedules it across three networks.

    Feature recap

    • Unlimited scheduling to 9 networks; Bulk Composer for 350 posts
    • Unified inbox; DM automations from Professional, routing and CSAT on Advanced
    • Competitor benchmarking, custom and scheduled reports
    • Quick Search listening on every plan; Lumen by Talkwalker on Enterprise
    • Wisdom AI with 100 credits a month on self-serve plans
    • Approval workflows on Advanced and Enterprise
    • Canva and Adobe Express in the composer; 100+ integrations

    The Numbers

    Hootsuite Pricing: Every Plan Explained

Hootsuite prices every plan per user, and extra seats cost the plan's per-user rate. Annual prices below are from Hootsuite's plans page; monthly prices are from the billing data that page loads, all checked October 13, 2026, in USD before tax.

    PlanMonthlyAnnualIncluded FeaturesBest For
Standard$149/user$99/user/mo ($1,188 a year)10 social accounts, unlimited scheduling, unified inbox, 5 competitor benchmarks, 7-day Quick Search listening, Wisdom with 100 AI credits a monthSmall teams with up to 10 accounts

Advanced$499/user$399/user/mo ($4,788 a year)Everything in Professional plus post approvals, message assignment and routing, CSAT surveys, CSV/Excel export, branded and external reportsTeams that need approvals
EnterpriseAnnual onlyCustomLumen by Talkwalker listening, Parliament employee advocacy, SSO, Salesforce integration, compliance integrations, ROI reporting, onboarding and coachingLarge organizations

Per-user pricing adds up quickly. Three people on Professional billed annually cost $597 a month, or $7,164 a year; the same team on Advanced, for approvals, pays $14,364 a year (our arithmetic from Hootsuite's listed prices). Annual billing saves about a third against monthly, but Hootsuite's billing FAQ calls annual plans a one-year commitment with one discounted, non-refundable payment that renews automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Moving down from Advanced to Standard, or off a legacy plan, means deleting the account and signing up again, according to Hootsuite's help center. The 14-day trial covers Standard, Professional and Advanced, needs no card and doesn't charge automatically at the end. Nonprofits can apply for a discount on some plans.

    What changed

Hootsuite Social OS and the 2026 plan changes

On June 24, 2026 Hootsuite relaunched as Social OS, renaming publishing to Perch, the inbox to Nest, Amplify to Parliament and Talkwalker listening to Lumen by Talkwalker, and introducing Wisdom, an AI agent. The plans page now lists Standard, Professional, Advanced and Enterprise, with a 100-credit monthly AI allowance on the self-serve plans. We couldn't find a dated announcement for the Professional plan or the current Advanced price.

Hootsuite's legal payment terms (last modified in 2019) still describe older 'Professional and Team' plans, and its help center treats Professional, Team and Business as legacy plans; today's Professional plan is a different product with unlimited accounts.

    The Audience

    Who Should Use Hootsuite?

    Best for: in-house social teams

A team of two to five managing many brand accounts gets a shared calendar, a routed inbox, competitor reports and listening in one place, which can replace several smaller tools.

Best for: agencies with approval steps

Agencies that need client or legal sign-off before posting should look at Advanced, where approvals, branded reports and external report sharing start.

Skip if: you mostly schedule posts

Solo creators and small businesses that mainly schedule a few channels pay far less with Buffer or Later, both of which cost under $20 a month to start.

    How People Actually Use Hootsuite

    A three-person in-house social team

Professional ($199 a user billed annually) covers unlimited accounts, inbox automations and custom reports. Budget $7,164 a year at list price and confirm whether you need approvals before choosing Advanced.

A social agency with 12 clients

Advanced adds approvals and branded reports you can send to clients. Compare the per-user total with agency-focused tools before signing an annual plan.

    A solo creator

Hootsuite Standard at $99 a month billed annually is more than most creators need. Start with Buffer's free plan or Later's Starter plan.

    The Ecosystem

    Hootsuite Integrations

Hootsuite lists more than 100 apps and integrations, with design tools built into the composer.

    • →Canva and Adobe Express (in the composer)
    • →Slack, monday.com and Wrike
    • →HubSpot and Asana (per Hootsuite's FAQ)
    • →Salesforce (Enterprise)
    • →Google Drive and Dropbox
    • →Bitly (Professional and up)
    • →MCP connectors for Perch, Nest and Lumen

Google Business Profile is supported through a Google My Business app in Hootsuite's app directory rather than as a native network. Salesforce and compliance integrations require Enterprise.

    The Final Word

    Should You Use Hootsuite?

    8.2/10 Score

Hootsuite remains a complete platform for social teams, covering publishing, a routed inbox, benchmarking and listening, now with Wisdom AI and MCP connectors. For teams that use all of that, the per-user price can replace several tools. For solo creators and small businesses that mostly schedule posts, it's hard to justify against Buffer or Later. Choose the plan by the feature you can't do without (unlimited accounts on Professional, approvals on Advanced), use the 14-day trial, and remember that annual plans aren't refundable. We score Hootsuite 8.2/10.

Your team manages many social accounts and needs inbox, reporting, listening and approvals in one place.
