    Quick answer

What is Podia, and is it worth paying for?

Podia is an all-in-one storefront for creators: you sell online courses, digital downloads, coaching, webinars and paid community memberships from a Podia website, and email your audience from the same account. It's worth paying for if you're a solo creator selling several kinds of digital product and want one simple tool rather than a course platform plus a shop plus an email service. Mover costs $42 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly) with a 5% Podia fee on sales; Shaker costs $84 billed yearly ($99 monthly) with no Podia fee, checked on Podia's pricing page on October 14, 2026. There's no free plan, only a 14-day trial without a card.

    Best for
Solo creators selling a mix of courses, downloads, coaching and a community from one branded site.
    Skip it if
You need a mobile app for members, native live streaming or scheduling, automated affiliate payouts, or an email list larger than a few thousand without add-ons.
    Strongest capability
Simplicity across product types: courses, downloads, coaching, events, community, website, blog and email in one account with unlimited customers.
    Biggest limitation
It relies on other tools for live sessions and scheduling, has no mobile app, and includes only 100 to 1,000 email subscribers before a paid email add-on.

    The Verdict

Podia keeps selling digital products simple. Every plan includes courses, downloads, coaching, events, community, a website with a blog and email, with unlimited customers, and Podia says it never auto-upgrades you. Mover's 5% fee makes sense only for small sales volumes; above roughly $840 a month in sales, by our arithmetic, Shaker's 0% fee costs less overall. The limits are in what Podia doesn't do itself: live events run through Zoom, Google Meet or YouTube Live, coaching bookings through Calendly or similar tools, affiliate payouts are manual, there's no member mobile app, and plans include 100, 500 or 1,000 email subscribers before an add-on. Support starts with an AI assistant, and refunds are limited to 72 hours after a payment. We score Podia 8.1/10.

    The Background

    What Is Podia?

Podia is a platform for selling digital products from Podia Labs, Inc., which lists a New York mailing address in its terms. Its about page says it has operated since 2014 and calls itself a profitable, independent business; Spencer Fry is the founder and CEO. You build a Podia website with a blog, add products (courses, downloads, coaching, events and community spaces), take payment through Stripe or PayPal, and email customers with broadcasts, campaigns and automations. A 2026 relaunch, described in Podia's "new Podia" post (last updated June 1, 2026), centred the product on community, with a home feed, direct messages, group chats, in-person events and courses inside the community. Podia removed its free plan in October 2024.

    The Product

Podia Features: What You Actually Get

    Courses, downloads and coaching

Every plan sells courses, digital downloads and coaching; Mover allows 50 products and 500 videos, Shaker 150 and 1,000, and Earthquaker is unlimited. Coaching sessions are booked through Calendly, Squarespace Scheduling, YouCanBookMe or SavvyCal, with clients paying before they reach the booking link; Podia has no scheduler of its own.

    A design teacher sells a $149 course, a $19 template pack and a $250 one-to-one review booked through Calendly.

    Community and events

Community spaces (25 on Mover, 100 on Shaker, unlimited on Earthquaker) include a shared home feed, group chat and member DMs, with free or paid tiers. Events and webinars run on Zoom, Google Meet or YouTube Live, with paid tickets and replays hosted on Podia; in-person events are supported too. There's no native streaming.

A writing coach runs a paid community with a monthly live Zoom workshop and posts the replay inside the space.

    Email marketing

Broadcasts, campaigns (sequences) and automations with tags, segments and templates are built in, and AI drafts only send after you approve them. Plans include 100, 500 or 1,000 subscribers; more costs from $18 a month for 1,000 extra (or $10 for 500 on Mover). Going over the limit disables broadcasts and campaigns until you fix it.

A creator sends a five-email launch sequence to subscribers tagged from a free download.

    Website, checkout and affiliates

A website with 10 themes, a blog, SEO settings and landing pages is included, and checkout handles tax for 230 countries in 20+ currencies. Payments run through Stripe (with Apple Pay and Google Pay) on every plan and PayPal from Shaker. Shaker and Earthquaker add upsells and an affiliate program, but affiliate commissions are paid manually.

A podcaster on Shaker recruits listeners as affiliates for her course and pays commissions by PayPal each month.

    Podia Agent and MCP

Podia Agent, the built-in AI assistant, handles tasks in the dashboard with daily message limits of 3 on Mover and the trial, 15 on Shaker and 30 on Earthquaker; you can connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic key to keep going. A Podia MCP server, available on all plans for now, connects Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.

A creator asks Claude, through Podia's MCP server, to draft a sales page for a new download and create the product as a draft.

    The Numbers

    Podia Pricing: Every Plan Explained

Podia sells three plans; the differences are the transaction fee, product and community limits, included email subscribers and a few commerce features. Prices below are from Podia's pricing page, checked October 14, 2026, in USD; yearly prices are shown as a monthly figure billed once a year.

    Podia plans and prices
    PlanMonthlyAnnualIncluded FeaturesBest For
Mover$49/mo$42/mo5% Podia transaction fee, 50 products, 500 videos, 25 community spaces, 100 email subscribers, website, blog, email, coaching, events; no affiliates, upsells, PayPal or ZapierNew creators with modest sales
ShakerBest value$99/mo$84/mo0% Podia fee, 150 products, 1,000 videos, 100 spaces, 500 email subscribers, 1 assistant, affiliates, upsells, PayPal, ZapierCreators with steady sales
Earthquaker$179/mo$150/mo0% Podia fee, unlimited products, videos and spaces, 1,000 email subscribers, unlimited assistantsLarger catalogs and teams

The choice between Mover and Shaker is mostly arithmetic: the yearly prices differ by $42 a month, so once you sell more than about $840 a month, Mover's 5% fee costs more than upgrading (our calculation, before Stripe or PayPal's own 2.9% + 30¢). Email is the other variable. Mover includes 100 subscribers, and adding 1,000 costs $18 a month ($14 billed yearly), so a list of a few thousand adds meaningfully to the bill. Upgrades apply immediately as prorated credit and downgrades at the end of the cycle. Podia's terms (effective December 12, 2024) say fees are non-refundable except as expressly provided, and its pricing FAQ and help center allow a refund if you ask within 72 hours of your most recent payment, with no partial refunds on annual plans. Cancelling takes your site offline and customers lose access to their purchases, so plan any migration first.

    Where Podia's own pages differ

Refunds and payments: the terms say Podia won't refund fees already paid, with an exception for anything "expressly provided"; the pricing FAQ and help center provide a 72-hour refund on the most recent payment. The terms name Stripe as the payment processor, while the help center and integrations page also support PayPal (Shaker and up).

AI and limits: the pricing page lists Podia AI tools on every plan, but Podia Agent allows only 3 messages a day on Mover. Earthquaker lists unlimited products, while free migration help stops at 150 products.

    The Audience

    Who Should Use Podia?

Best for: creators selling several product types

A creator selling a course, templates, coaching and a membership gets one storefront, one checkout and one email list instead of four tools.

    Best for: community-led educators

The 2026 relaunch puts courses inside the community, with feeds, DMs and group chats, which suits cohort-style programs and paid memberships.

Skip if: you need an app or built-in live tools

Creators whose members expect a mobile app, or who want streaming and scheduling built in, should compare Thinkific, which sells a branded mobile app as a $199-a-month add-on.

    The Methodology

    How We Reviewed Podia

This is an editorial review, not a documented hands-on test. We didn't use a Podia account for this review. It's based on Podia's pricing page (plan cards, FAQ and embedded price data), events, coaching, community, email, website and integrations pages, about page, its posts on removing the free plan and the new Podia, terms (effective December 12, 2024), and help-center articles on the trial, payments, plan changes, cancellation, email limits, affiliates, Podia Agent, MCP, the member experience and support, all checked on October 14, 2026. Where Podia's pages differ, we report both statements. No sales, conversion or student-experience results are claimed.

Our editorial evaluation considers product information, official documentation, pricing, features and professional experience. It is not a claim of documented hands-on testing.

    Use cases

    Example setups by buyer type

A creator launching a first course

Mover ($42 billed yearly) is enough until sales pass about $840 a month; after that, Shaker's 0% fee pays for itself. Use the 14-day trial to build the course before paying.

A coach with a paid community

Shaker ($84 billed yearly) adds 100 community spaces, PayPal and affiliates. Run live sessions on Zoom or Google Meet and book one-to-ones through Calendly, since Podia has neither built in.

A creator with a large email list

Price the email add-on before moving: plans include 100 to 1,000 subscribers, and 10,000 extra costs $70 a month ($56 billed yearly). Keeping a separate email tool connected through Podia's integrations may cost less.

    The Ecosystem

    Podia Integrations

Podia connects to email tools, analytics pixels, scheduling and video tools, and Zapier, and offers an MCP server for AI assistants.

    • →Zapier (Shaker and Earthquaker)
    • →Kit, Mailchimp, AWeber, Drip, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite, GetResponse and Flodesk
    • →Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Pinterest Tag
    • →Zoom, Google Meet and YouTube Live for events
    • →Calendly, Squarespace Scheduling, YouCanBookMe and SavvyCal for coaching
    • →Stripe and PayPal
    • →Discord, Hotjar and Deadline Funnel
    • →Podia MCP for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor

Zapier and PayPal need Shaker or Earthquaker. Podia doesn't document a public REST API; the MCP server is available on all plans for now, and Podia says future limits may apply.

    The Final Word

    Should You Use Podia?

    8.1/10 Score

Podia is a clear, creator-friendly way to sell several kinds of digital product from one site, with email and community built in and no auto-upgrades. Pick Shaker once sales justify dropping the 5% fee, budget for the email add-on if your list is large, and plan around the tools Podia doesn't replace: a scheduler, a video-call service and, for some audiences, a mobile app. We score Podia 8.1/10.
