Quick answer
Is Sprout Social worth it in 2026?
Sprout Social is a social media management platform: you schedule posts to the major networks, answer comments and messages in one inbox, build reports and ask its AI agent, Trellis, questions about your social data. It's worth it for teams that handle customer conversations on social and need approvals and polished reporting. It's expensive for a solo creator: plans cost $79, $199, $299 and $399 per seat a month billed annually ($99, $249, $399 and $499 monthly), there's no free plan, and the unified inbox starts on Standard. Prices were checked on Sprout Social's pricing page on October 13, 2026.
- Best for
- Social and customer-care teams that share an inbox, need approval steps and send reports to leadership or clients.
- Skip it if
- You mainly schedule posts for a few channels; Buffer has a free plan and paid plans from $5 per channel a month.
- Strongest capability
- The inbox and reporting depth, with live phone and chat support 24 hours a day, five days a week on every plan.
- Biggest limitation
- Per-seat cost. The inbox starts at $199 a seat (Standard), approvals at $299 (Professional), the API at $399 (Advanced), and listening is an add-on with no published price.
The Verdict
Sprout Social is one of the most polished social media management platforms for teams: scheduling across the major networks, a consolidated inbox, competitor and paid reporting, approval workflows and Trellis, an AI agent that answers questions about your social data. Every plan includes live phone and chat support on weekdays, which is rare at this price level. The catch is cost. Sprout prices per seat, and the features most teams buy it for climb the plan ladder: the inbox needs Standard ($199 a seat billed annually), approvals and unlimited profiles need Professional ($299), and the API, Salesforce and HubSpot integrations need Advanced ($399). Listening, Premium Analytics and Employee Advocacy are add-ons with no published price. The new $79 Essentials plan covers publishing and reporting for five profiles. We score Sprout Social 8.4/10.
Best for
Social teams that run customer care in a shared inbox and need approvals and client-ready reports.

The Background
What Is Sprout Social?
Sprout Social, Inc. has sold social media management software since 2010 and trades on Nasdaq as SPT. It lists offices in Chicago, Dublin and Krakow and says it has more than 1,400 employees and about 30,000 brand customers; those are its own figures. In July 2025 it bought NewsWhip, a media-monitoring company, for $55 million in cash plus up to $10 million in earnouts. Its AI agent, Trellis, launched in November 2025 and rolled out to all customers in July 2026. Sprout connects to X, Facebook, Instagram business accounts, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, WhatsApp, Google Business Profile and Trustpilot, and its integrations page also lists Snapchat and Reddit.
The Product
Sprout Social Features: What You Actually Get
Publishing and scheduling
Every plan includes the content calendar, scheduling to all connected networks, ViralPost send-time optimisation, AI alt text and the Canva importer. Sprout Queue posts 10 messages a day on Essentials and Standard, 20 on Professional and 30 on Advanced. Bulk scheduling and message approval workflows start on Professional; approvals for external reviewers and for replies need Advanced.
A brand team plans a month of launch posts, sends them to a manager for approval and lets ViralPost choose the send time.
Smart Inbox and customer care
Standard adds the consolidated inbox, keyword and location monitoring, review management and WhatsApp. Standard keeps 90 days of conversation history; Professional and above keep full history and add message tagging. Advanced adds sentiment analysis, chatbots and AI Assist features that suggest replies and summarise conversations.
A support team answers Instagram DMs, Facebook comments and Google reviews from one queue, tags each one and tracks volume by topic.
Reporting and analytics
All plans include group, profile and post reports and a Google Analytics report. Professional adds competitor, tag and paid-social reports. Premium Analytics, sold as an add-on from Standard up, extends custom reporting; Sprout doesn't publish its price.
An agency builds a monthly client report comparing organic and paid results with three named competitors.
Trellis AI agent
Trellis answers questions about your social data in chat and runs Skills. Every plan includes 100 Trellis credits per seat a month, and Sprout's help center says only Trellis Chat and Skills use credits; AI Assist features such as caption and reply suggestions don't. Trellis Plus adds extended credits for $28 per user a month billed annually ($35 monthly), subject to fair-use limits.
A social lead asks Trellis which post formats drove the most engagement last quarter and turns the answer into a plan for next month.
Listening and add-ons
Social listening, Premium Analytics, Employee Advocacy and Professional Services are paid add-ons with prices given only through sales. Influencer Marketing is sold separately and doesn't require a Sprout plan. Advanced adds spike alerts on your monitored keywords.
A brand adds Listening to track mentions of a product launch across networks and news, alongside its Standard seats.

The Numbers
Sprout Social Pricing: Every Plan Explained
Sprout Social prices every plan per seat. The plan cards show annual billing; monthly prices are in the billing FAQ on the same pricing page. All checked October 13, 2026, in USD before tax.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Included Features | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $99/seat | $79/seat/mo | 5 social profiles, publishing and calendar, optimal send times, profile and post reports, Trellis with 100 credits per seat a month; no inbox listed | Small teams that mainly publish and report |
| Standard | $249/seat | $199/seat/mo | 5 social profiles, consolidated inbox (90 days of history), keyword and location monitoring, review management, WhatsApp | Teams starting customer care on social |
| ProfessionalBest value | $399/seat | $299/seat/mo | Unlimited profiles, full inbox history, message tagging, approval workflow, bulk scheduling, competitor, tag and paid reports | Growing social teams |
| Advanced | $499/seat | $399/seat/mo | Everything in Professional plus the Sprout API, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Dynamics and Marketo integrations, external approvals, sentiment, chatbots, spike alerts | Teams that connect social to a CRM or help desk |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom limits and Trellis credits, white-glove onboarding, dedicated SSO setup, priority support | Large organizations |
Per-seat pricing is the main cost driver. Three people on Professional billed annually cost $897 a month, or $10,764 a year, before any add-on; the same team on Standard pays $7,164 a year (our arithmetic from Sprout's listed prices). Listening, Premium Analytics and Employee Advocacy add more, and Sprout publishes no prices for them. The 30-day trial needs no credit card. Sprout's terms (effective May 9, 2025) say annual plans renew automatically unless you give notice at least 30 days before the term ends, monthly plans get no refunds for unused fees, and annual renewal increases are capped at 7% unless Sprout gives 60 days' notice. US nonprofits can get a discount on Professional and Advanced.
What changed
The Essentials plan and Trellis in 2025-2026
Sprout's pricing page now shows Essentials, marked new, at $79 a seat billed annually: publishing and reporting for five profiles without the inbox. We couldn't find a dated Sprout announcement for the plan.
Trellis, Sprout's AI agent, was announced on November 18, 2025 and, according to Sprout's May 13, 2026 release, rolled out to all customers in July 2026, with a 100-credit monthly allowance per seat. Sprout also runs an MCP server for ChatGPT, but its help center says it is only available for TikTok data.

Where Sprout Social's own pages differ
Listening: the integrations page calls Listening an add-on you can add to any Sprout plan, while the pricing page says add-ons are available on Standard and up.
SSO: the pricing page lists a dedicated SSO setup service as an Enterprise extra, while Sprout's help center says self-service SAML SSO is available to all customers.
Networks: Snapchat and Reddit appear on the integrations page and pricing table but not in the help center's list of profiles you can connect; Bluesky is in the help center but missing from the pricing page's network table.
Billing basis: the pricing page header says annual billing, while the FAQ on the same page lists monthly prices for every plan.

In The Wild
How People Actually Use Sprout Social
A three-person brand social team
Professional ($299 a seat billed annually) covers unlimited profiles, the full inbox, approvals and competitor reports. Budget $10,764 a year at list price before add-ons such as Listening.
A small business that mostly posts
Essentials ($79 billed annually) covers publishing and reporting for five profiles. If you also need to answer messages in one place, compare Standard with Hootsuite Standard, which includes an inbox at $99.
A support team using Salesforce or Zendesk
The Salesforce, Zendesk, HubSpot and Dynamics integrations and the Sprout API need Advanced ($399 a seat billed annually). Confirm the integration covers your case during the 30-day trial.
The Ecosystem

Sprout Social FAQ
The Final Word
Should You Use Sprout Social?
Sprout Social is a strong choice for teams that run customer care on social and need approvals, deep reports and responsive support. For those teams, the per-seat price buys a polished, well-supported tool. For solo creators and small businesses that mostly schedule posts, it's hard to justify against Buffer or Later, and even the new Essentials plan leaves out the inbox. Pick the plan by the feature you can't do without (the inbox on Standard, approvals on Professional, the API and CRM integrations on Advanced), price any add-ons with sales, and use the 30-day trial. We score Sprout Social 8.4/10.
Yes, if
Your team answers customers on social, needs approvals and sends reports to leadership or clients.
No, if
You mostly schedule posts for a few channels, or can't justify $199 or more per seat for the inbox.
