    Quick answer

What is Wix Studio, and is it worth it for an agency?

Wix Studio is Wix's website platform for professionals: a free, shared workspace where agencies and freelancers design responsive sites, add CMS, eCommerce and custom code, then upgrade each client site to a paid plan. It's worth it for teams that want design freedom, built-in business features and hosting in one place without managing servers. It's less suited to teams that need to export code or host elsewhere. On October 14, 2026 Studio site plans cost Basic $19, Standard $27, Plus $34 and Elite $159 a month, billed yearly; Enterprise is quoted. Building is free, with unlimited sites on Wix subdomains, and paid plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee.

    Best for
Agencies and freelancers building many client sites who want hosting, CMS, eCommerce and client handover tools included.
    Skip it if
You need to export your site's code or host it elsewhere, or you want a dedicated white-label reseller platform.
    Strongest capability
A free team workspace with responsive AI design, a VS Code-based IDE with npm and GitHub, and built-in business apps.
    Biggest limitation
Sites are locked to Wix hosting, Basic can't accept payments, and Wix's own pages quote two different price sets.
    Current cost
Free to build; $19 to $159 a month per site billed yearly; Enterprise quoted.

    The Verdict

Wix Studio is a full agency platform rather than a page builder. The workspace is free, with unlimited sites and teammates, and each client site moves to its own plan when it launches: Basic at $19 a month billed yearly for a brochure site, Standard at $27 once the client needs to take payments, Plus at $34 for priority support and more collaborators. Responsive AI, a VS Code-based IDE with npm packages and GitHub, CMS limits that scale to 10 million items, and client kits and payment requests make handover practical, and Partner Program members earn a revenue share on the plans they sell. The trade-offs are lock-in (you can't export a Studio site to host elsewhere), plan limits that push stores and busy sites up the ladder, and two Wix blog posts that quote lower prices than the plans page. We score Wix Studio 8.5/10.

    The Background

    What Is Wix Studio?

Wix Studio launched in 2023 as the professional edition of Wix, the Tel Aviv-based website builder listed on Nasdaq. Wix's FAQ describes it as built for professionals and teams, while regular Wix is for individuals and business owners. You design in a responsive canvas with AI help for breakpoints, manage every client site from a shared workspace, and extend sites with Wix's CMS, eCommerce, Bookings, Events and other apps, or with code: a VS Code-based IDE, npm packages, GitHub integration and custom React components. Building is free on Wix subdomains; each live site needs one of five Studio plans (Basic, Standard, Plus, Elite or Enterprise). Agencies can join the Partner Program for a revenue share, Marketplace listing at higher levels and tools that let clients pay Wix directly.

    The Product

Wix Studio Features: What You Actually Get

    Responsive design with AI

The editor uses a responsive canvas with breakpoints, and Wix's AI page lists one-click responsive AI that adjusts sections to fit all screen sizes, plus AI text, image upscaling and background removal. Design libraries and custom templates can be shared across a team's sites.

A two-person studio reuses its own section library to launch a new client site in days rather than weeks.

    Developer tools

Studio includes a VS Code-based IDE with an AI code assistant, npm package support, GitHub integration and custom React components. Backend containers and request limits scale by plan (one micro container on Basic and Standard, five standard containers on Elite).

An agency developer adds a custom quote calculator built in React and keeps the code in the agency's GitHub repo.

    Workspace, client handover and billing

A workspace has no limit on sites or teammates, and you can belong to up to 50 workspaces. Client kits, automated reports and a content mode let clients edit text without breaking layouts. Partner Program members can send payment requests so the client pays Wix directly for the site plan and becomes its billing manager.

A freelancer hands a finished site to a restaurant owner, who pays for Standard directly and edits the menu in content mode.

    Business apps and CMS

Plans include Wix's CMS (1,500 items on Basic up to 10 million on Elite), eCommerce with payments from Standard, Bookings, Events, restaurant ordering and lead-capture forms. Bandwidth is unlimited on paid plans.

A boutique's site sells products, takes appointments and captures newsletter leads without third-party plugins.

    Feature recap

    • Free workspace with unlimited sites and teammates; paid plan per live site
    • Responsive canvas with AI layout help and design libraries
    • VS Code-based IDE, npm packages, GitHub integration, custom React components
    • CMS from 1,500 items (Basic) to 10 million (Elite)
    • eCommerce, Bookings, Events and restaurant apps from Standard
    • Client kits, content mode and client payment requests
    • Partner Program revenue share of 20% or more on Studio plans you sell
    • Free domain for a year on yearly plans; 14-day money-back guarantee

    The Numbers

Wix Studio Pricing: Every Plan Explained

Wix Studio charges per site. These are the plans page prices on October 14, 2026, in US dollars per month for yearly subscriptions paid in full; Wix doesn't show monthly-billing prices on that page.

    PlanMonthlyAnnualIncluded FeaturesBest For
Free workspace$0$0Unlimited sites on a Wix subdomain, unlimited teammates, Wix Studio branding, up to 500MB storage and 1GB bandwidth per free siteBuilding and showing sites before launch
Basic—$19/mo billed yearlyCustom domain (free for a year), 10 GB media, 3 site collaborators, 1,500 CMS items; can't accept paymentsBrochure and portfolio sites
Standard—$27/mo billed yearlyAccept payments, 50 GB media, 5 collaborators, 4,000 CMS itemsSmall stores and service businesses
PlusBest value—$34/mo billed yearly120 GB media, 10 collaborators, 20,000 CMS items, priority supportBusier business sites
Elite—$159/mo billed yearlyUnlimited media, 100 collaborators, 10 million CMS items, dedicated data infrastructure, priority supportData-heavy or high-traffic sites
EnterpriseCustomCustomUnlimited collaborators, SSO, multi-site management, audit log, dedicated success managerLarge organizations and multi-site brands

Because Studio charges per live site, an agency's cost scales with its client count, and most agencies pass the plan cost to the client: Partner Program payment requests let the client pay Wix directly. The jump that matters most is Basic to Standard: Basic ($19 a month billed yearly) can't take payments, so any client that sells online starts at $27. Plus ($34) adds priority support and more collaborators; Elite ($159) is for very large CMS collections or traffic. Wix's billing help says yearly plans renew automatically and may be charged up to three weeks before they expire, monthly plans don't include the free domain voucher, and a first upgrade can be cancelled within 14 days for a full refund. Partner Program members earn a revenue share of 20% or more on Studio plans they buy and publish.

    Where Wix's pages differ

Prices: the Studio plans page shows Basic $19, Standard $27, Plus $34 and Elite $159 a month billed yearly, and a Wix blog post comparing Studio with Duda gives the same figures. A second Wix blog post, comparing Studio with Webflow, lists Basic $12, Standard $20, Plus $32 and Elite $149; both posts say their prices were current as of July 22, 2026. Use the plans page and confirm at checkout.

Marketplace access: the Partner Program page offers a Marketplace listing, while the help article on partner levels limits it to the Icon and Legend levels.

Audience size: Wix's about page says over 300 million users, while the Studio page markets the app market to 245 million-plus potential customers.

    Before you buy

    Hosting, code and lock-in

Studio sites run only on Wix's hosting. Custom code, npm packages and React components extend a site, but the site itself can't be exported to run elsewhere, so a client leaving Wix means rebuilding.

Backend limits rise with the plan: one micro container and up to 1,000 backend requests a minute on Basic, up to five standard containers and 25,000 requests a minute on Elite. Check them before building data-heavy apps on a lower plan.

    The Tradeoffs

    Wix Studio Pros and Cons

    What we love

    • Free workspace with unlimited sites and teammates
    • Responsive AI layout tools and shared design libraries
    • Real developer tooling: VS Code-based IDE, npm, GitHub, React components
    • eCommerce, Bookings, Events and CMS built in
    • Client payment requests and a Partner Program revenue share
    • 14-day money-back guarantee and a free domain for a year

    What could be better

    • Sites can't be exported or hosted outside Wix
    • Basic can't accept payments; stores start at Standard
    • Monthly-billing prices aren't shown on the plans page
    • Wix's own blog posts quote two different price sets
    • Clients see Wix as the platform; no full white-label reseller tier

    The Audience

    Who Should Use Wix Studio?

    Best for: design-led agencies

Agencies that want pixel control and reusable libraries without managing hosting can build, hand over and earn a revenue share on each client plan.

Best for: freelancers serving small businesses

Clients who need a store, bookings or events get them built in, and payment requests let them pay Wix directly so the freelancer isn't the billing middleman.

Skip if: you need portability or white label

Teams that must export code or self-host should look at Webflow's code export or a CMS like WordPress; SaaS platforms reselling sites under their own brand should look at Duda's White Label plan.

    In The Wild

How People Actually Use Wix Studio

A freelancer launching three brochure sites

Build all three free, then put each on Basic ($19 a month billed yearly). Move any client that starts selling online to Standard ($27).

An agency with 30 client sites

Join the Partner Program for the revenue share and send payment requests so clients pay Wix directly. Use content mode so clients can edit copy safely.

A brand with many regional sites

Enterprise adds SSO, multi-site management, centralized billing and audit logs; price is quoted by Wix's sales team.

    The Ecosystem

    Wix Studio Integrations

Wix Studio sites extend through Wix's own business apps, its app market and custom code.

    • →Wix eCommerce, Bookings, Events, Restaurants and Online Programs
    • →Wix app market apps, including Blocks apps agencies build and sell
    • →npm packages and custom React components
    • →GitHub integration and a VS Code-based IDE
    • →Google Ads with Wix and marketplace and social selling channels

Integrations run inside Wix's hosting; there's no code export. Some app limits, such as automated sales tax transactions and lead-capture forms, rise with the plan, so check the plans page comparison table.
