Best WordPress Hosting
Five WordPress hosts for small-business and creator sites, compared on what 1, 3 and 10 sites cost in year one and at renewal, how traffic is capped, and what's included.

Short answer
What is the best WordPress hosting for a small business?
Pressable is the best fit for most small-business and creator sites: $250 a year for one site and 30,000 visits, the same price at renewal, with staging, hourly database backups, 24/7 support and Jetpack Security included. Choose WordPress.com if you want no traffic limits at all (Business is $300 for the first year, then $336), Kinsta if you want the strongest built-in tooling and the lowest overage fees ($350 a year), SiteGround if first-year cost matters most ($35.88, renewing at $215.88), and WP Engine if you host around 10 sites ($1,248 a year).
WordPress hosting looks cheap until year two. Most hosts advertise a discounted first term, cap monthly visits or bandwidth, and charge for going over, so the same small site can cost $36 or $350 in its first year and very different amounts after that. This guide ranks five hosts by how well they fit small-business and creator sites: one to ten sites, modest but sometimes spiky traffic, and owners who would rather not run servers. We weighed the total cost at 1, 3 and 10 sites including renewals, how traffic is capped and what overages cost, what's included (CDN, backups, staging, security, support), and each host's computed BestStacked review score. It is research, not hands-on testing: every price below was checked on the vendor's own pages on October 19, 2026, and affiliate status plays no part in the order. Prices are billed yearly in USD before tax unless we say otherwise.

Pressable
Managed WordPress host · Signature 1 $25/mo, or $250/yr (1 site, 30K visits, 20GB)
Signature 1 covers one WordPress install, 30,000 visits and 20 GB for $250 a year, with no first-year discount to lose at renewal. Every Signature plan includes five dedicated PHP workers per site, edge and page caching, hourly database and daily full backups, production, staging and sandbox environments, free migrations, 24/7 support and Jetpack Security. Signature 3 covers 5 installs for $600 a year. The catch is the meter: overages bill automatically at $1.20 per 1,000 visits.
WordPress.com
Hosted WordPress platform · Personal $48/yr; Business $300 first year
Every WordPress.com plan has unlimited visitors with no overage fees, and plugins work on every paid plan from Personal ($4 a month billed yearly, renewing at $5). Business ($25 a month for the first year, then $28; $40 billed monthly) adds staging, real-time backups, SFTP/SSH, WP-CLI and GitHub deployments with 24/7 priority support. Plans are per site, so 3 or 10 sites cost the most here. Not scored: BestStacked's WordPress review covers the self-hosted software, not WordPress.com's plans.
Kinsta
Managed WordPress host · Single 35K $35/mo, or $350/yr (1 site, 35K visits, 10GB); first month $0
Single 35K covers one install, 35,000 visits (or 20 GB of bandwidth) and 10 GB for $350 a year, with the first month at $0 and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Every plan includes a managed firewall, a CDN with 260+ locations, an APM tool, staging, free malware removal and unlimited migrations. Overages are the lowest here at $0.50 per 1,000 visits, but multi-site plans cost the most of the managed hosts and hourly backups are a $100-a-month add-on.
SiteGround
Shared WordPress hosting · StartUp $2.99/mo for the first 12 months, renews at $17.99/mo
The cheapest way in: StartUp is $2.99 a month for the first 12 months, prepaid, then $17.99 a month. GrowBig ($4.99, then $29.99) hosts unlimited sites with 50 GB and staging. Every plan includes free email, daily off-site backups, a CDN, a firewall and 24/7 phone support, with no visit overage fees, but sites share server resources under a fair-use policy and renewals run about six times the first-year price.
WP Engine
Managed WordPress host · Essential $336/yr for 1 site and 25K visits ($35 billed monthly)
Essential covers 1 site and 25,000 visits for $336 a year, 3 sites for $624 and 10 sites for $1,248, the lowest 10-site price of the managed hosts here. Staging and dev environments, daily and on-demand backups, EverCache and a CDN are included. It ranks last for this audience because overages cost $2 per 1,000 visits, Essential runs on shared resources with the firewall and uptime monitoring as add-ons, and the plans page published no money-back guarantee.

WordPress.com is priced on Business because it's the plan with staging and real-time backups; Personal ($48 for the first year, then $60) or Premium ($96, then $108) cover simpler sites. Kinsta's 3-site figure uses WP 5; WP 2 plus a $30-a-month extra site costs $1,060. SiteGround's visit figures are its suggested capacity, not a billed limit.

Email: SiteGround includes email accounts on every plan, Pressable lists professional email on its Signature plans, and WordPress.com Business includes a business email account for the first year. Kinsta and WP Engine don't list email hosting.
Method
How we ranked these hosts
The order reflects fit for small-business and creator sites, not raw features. Pressable ranks first because it has the lowest yearly price of the managed hosts for one site with no renewal step-up, and it includes staging, hourly database backups and Jetpack Security that others charge for or leave out; its review scores 8.0. WordPress.com ranks second for the one thing creators fear most, a traffic spike, because none of its plans meter visits; it has no BestStacked score because our WordPress review covers the self-hosted software. Kinsta scores 8.0 too, with better tooling and cheaper overages than Pressable, but costs $100 more a year for one site and the most for multiple sites.
SiteGround (7.8) and WP Engine (7.8) tie on score. SiteGround ranks higher for this audience because its first year is the cheapest by far, GrowBig hosts unlimited sites, email is included and there are no visit overage fees. WP Engine is the best value at around 10 sites, but its $2 per 1,000 overage rate, add-on firewall and lack of a published money-back guarantee are a poor match for a creator site that might go viral. Affiliate status played no part: Pressable and WordPress.com are Automattic affiliates, and Kinsta, SiteGround and WP Engine aren't.
By site type
Which WordPress host fits your kind of site
Match the host to how your traffic behaves and how many sites you run, then check the second-year price.
- A creator blog or newsletter site that might go viral: WordPress.com, because no plan meters visits. Personal ($48 for the first year) is enough if you only need plugins and a custom domain.
- A small business brochure site: Pressable Signature 1 ($250 a year) for managed hosting with security included, or SiteGround StartUp if you want email on the same bill and the lowest first year.
- A WooCommerce store: Pressable's dedicated PHP workers and hourly database backups, or Kinsta Single 65K ($500 a year), the first Kinsta plan it marks as recommended for ecommerce.
- A freelancer with 10 client sites: WP Engine's 10-site Essential plan ($1,248 a year) or Pressable Signature 5 ($1,550 for 20 installs and 400,000 visits). SiteGround GrowBig is cheaper if the sites are small.
- A developer who wants monitoring and SSO: Kinsta, with its APM tool, SAML single sign-on and API on every plan.
Add-on, not a host
Where Jetpack fits
Jetpack is a WordPress plugin from Automattic, not a host. It adds security, backups and growth tools to a WordPress site wherever it's hosted. The free plugin covers brute-force login protection, an image CDN and basic stats. Jetpack Security adds real-time backups, malware scanning, an automatic firewall and Akismet spam filtering for $9.95 a month billed yearly in the first year ($119.40), then $19.95 a month ($239.40 a year). Prices were checked on jetpack.com on October 19, 2026.
Whether you need it depends on your host. Pressable includes Jetpack Security on every Signature plan, and WordPress.com includes Jetpack's security and stats features, so don't buy it twice on either. On SiteGround or WP Engine, which back up daily but don't include real-time backups or (on WP Engine Essential) a managed firewall, Jetpack Security is a reasonable add-on for a store or a site that changes often. On Kinsta, check the daily backups and free malware removal first; Jetpack Security's $119.40 first year costs less than Kinsta's hourly backup add-on ($100 a month).
Don't mix them up
WordPress.com vs WordPress.org hosting
WordPress.org is the free, open-source software; you install it on a host such as Pressable, Kinsta, SiteGround or WP Engine, and the host's plan sets your limits. WordPress.com is Automattic's hosted service built on the same software: you buy a WordPress.com plan, and hosting, security and updates come with it. Plugins work on every paid WordPress.com plan, and developer tools (SFTP/SSH, WP-CLI, staging) start on Business.
BestStacked's WordPress review covers the self-hosted software from WordPress.org. It includes a section on WordPress.com's plans and refund terms, but it isn't a review of WordPress.com hosting and its 8.7 score isn't WordPress.com's, which is why WordPress.com appears here without a score.
Buying guide
How to Choose the Right Tool
Price year two, not just year one. SiteGround StartUp costs $35.88 to start and $215.88 a year after; Pressable and Kinsta charge the same each year.
Size the plan to your real traffic. Check your analytics for monthly visits, then compare against each plan's allowance and overage rate: 20,000 extra visits cost $10 at Kinsta, $24 at Pressable and $40 at WP Engine.
Count your sites. Per-site plans (WordPress.com, Kinsta Single) get expensive fast; multi-site plans from Pressable, WP Engine and SiteGround GrowBig cost less per site.
Check what the entry plan leaves out: staging on SiteGround StartUp, the firewall and uptime monitoring on WP Engine Essential, hourly backups on Kinsta.
Use the refund window. Pressable gives 30 days (not after a free trial), Kinsta a free first month then 30 days, SiteGround 30 days and WordPress.com 14 days on yearly plans; WP Engine's plans page published none.
Methodology
How We Evaluate Tools
Fit for small sites
We rank for 1 to 10 small-business or creator sites with modest, sometimes spiky traffic and owners who don't want to manage servers.
Cost over two years
We price 1, 3 and 10 sites in year one and at renewal, because hosts discount the first term heavily.
Traffic caps and overages
We compare what each plan meters, how much is included and what going over costs.
What's included
CDN, backups, staging, security and support on the plan you'd buy, plus each host's computed BestStacked review score.
