Quick answer
Is Kinsta worth it for WordPress hosting?
Kinsta is a managed WordPress host: it runs the servers, caching, CDN, firewall and daily backups, and its support team moves your sites in free. On October 19, 2026, the entry Single 35K plan cost $35 a month, or $350 a year, for one WordPress install, 35,000 visits a month and 10 GB of storage, with the first month at $0 for new customers. You can bill by visits or by server bandwidth instead, at the same prices. Multi-site plans start at $70 a month for two sites. Going over a limit costs $0.50 per 1,000 visits or $0.50 per GB, lower than Pressable or WP Engine charge, but hourly backups, Redis and extra sites are paid add-ons. It's worth it if you want strong built-in tooling and predictable overage rates, and you don't mind paying more than Pressable at the entry level.
- Best for
- Business sites and stores that want a large CDN, built-in performance monitoring, SSO and low overage rates.
- Skip it if
- You want the lowest yearly cost for one small site, or you need hourly backups without paying $100 a site a month.
- Strongest capability
- Every plan includes a managed WAF, CDN with 260+ locations, an APM tool, staging, free malware removal and unlimited migrations.
- Biggest limitation
- The entry plan has 10 GB of storage, one install and no multisite, and several useful extras are monthly add-ons.
- Current cost
- Single 35K $35/mo or $350/yr; WP 2 $70/mo or $700/yr; WP 5 $115/mo; WP 10 $225/mo; Agency from $340/mo.
The Verdict
Kinsta is a managed WordPress host aimed at sites where performance and tooling matter. Every plan lists a managed firewall with Cloudflare DDoS protection, a CDN with more than 260 locations, an application performance monitoring tool, one-click staging, free malware removal, unlimited migrations, SAML single sign-on and an API, with 24/7 support in eight languages. Plans are sold by visits or by server bandwidth at the same price, which helps sites whose traffic is heavy on bots or light on page weight. Its overage rates are the lowest of the hosts we compared: $0.50 per 1,000 visits. The trade-off is the entry price and what it leaves out. Single 35K costs $350 a year against $250 at Pressable, includes 10 GB of storage, and keeps backups for 14 days; hourly backups cost $100 a site a month and extra sites $30 each. There's a free first month and a 30-day money-back guarantee after it. We score Kinsta 8.0/10.

The Background
What Is Kinsta?
Kinsta is a managed hosting company for WordPress sites. Managed means Kinsta runs the servers, caching, CDN, firewall and backups, and you manage your sites from its own dashboard, MyKinsta, where you can add sites, create staging copies, invite users, watch plan usage and use its performance monitoring tool. Plans are sized by the number of WordPress installs, plus either monthly visits or monthly server bandwidth, plus storage and CDN bandwidth. Kinsta counts a visit as each unique IP address seen within 24 hours, summed over the month. It sells single-site plans from $35 a month, multi-site plans from $70, agency plans from $340 and enterprise plans from $500, with dedicated servers as an add-on. Kinsta hosts WordPress only on these plans; it isn't a site builder, so you bring or build a WordPress site and Kinsta's migration team can move it for you.
The Product
Kinsta Features: What You Actually Get
CDN, edge caching and firewall
Kinsta's pricing page lists CDN and edge caching across more than 260 locations, a fully managed web application firewall with Cloudflare Enterprise DDoS protection, bot and vulnerability protection, and free wildcard SSL on every plan. Continuous MySQL database optimization runs without setup.
A store with customers in several countries serves cached pages from a nearby CDN location while the firewall filters bad traffic before it reaches WordPress.
Monitoring, staging and developer tools
Every plan includes Kinsta's built-in APM tool for finding slow plugins and queries, free one-click staging environments and the Kinsta API for creating sites, clearing cache and restarting PHP. Premium staging environments cost $20 each a month, and Redis caching $100 a site a month.
A developer spots a slow plugin in the APM tool, tests a fix on staging and pushes it live from MyKinsta.
Backups, migrations and malware removal
Sites are backed up automatically every 24 hours, with 14-day retention on the entry plans. You can add backups every 6 hours ($20 a site a month), every hour ($100) or external backups to Amazon or Google storage ($2 a site a month plus $1 per GB). Migrations are unlimited and free, and Kinsta's malware removal is free while you host with it.
A business moves three sites from shared hosting without paying for migration, and adds 6-hourly backups only to its store.
Support, users and SSO
Kinsta lists 24/7 human support in eight languages by chat. Every plan allows unlimited users with per-user access levels, plus SAML single sign-on and just-in-time provisioning. Its Business plan comparison lists an up to 99.99% uptime SLA, and enterprise plans add dedicated servers, compliance documentation and account management.
An agency gives a client view-only access to one site and a contractor developer access to another, with everyone signing in through SSO.

Kinsta Pricing: Every Plan Explained

Annual billing gives two months free. New customers get the first month at $0 on select plans, then a 30-day money-back guarantee. Each plan has the same price whether you bill by visits or by bandwidth.

Pricing scenarios (our calculations from Kinsta's and rivals' published USD prices, October 19, 2026; billed yearly; tax excluded). One site on Single 35K costs $350 a year, against $250 for Pressable Signature 1 (30,000 visits), $336 for WP Engine's one-site Essential plan (25,000 visits) and $35.88 for SiteGround StartUp's first year (renewing at $215.88). Kinsta doesn't advertise a lower first-year rate apart from the free first month, so the year-two price is the same. Three sites cost $1,150 a year on WP 5, or $1,060 on WP 2 plus a $30-a-month extra site; ten sites cost $2,250 on WP 10. Those are the highest multi-site prices of the managed hosts we compared, and Pressable's Signature 5 covers 20 installs for $1,550. Kinsta claws some of that back on overages: 10,000 visits over your limit cost $5 at Kinsta, against $12 at Pressable and $20 at WP Engine. Add-ons are where the bill grows: hourly backups for one site cost $1,200 a year, and Redis another $1,200.

Visits, bandwidth and overage fees
Kinsta lets you pick the meter. On visits-based plans, a visit is each unique IP address seen within a 24-hour period, summed across the month and shared across your sites. On bandwidth-based plans, you're billed on server data transfer instead. The price of each tier is the same either way, so pick the meter that fits your traffic: sites with many small page views from a few visitors usually suit bandwidth, and media-heavy sites usually suit visits.
If you go over, sites stay online and you pay for the excess: $0.50 per 1,000 visits, $0.50 per GB of server bandwidth, $2 per GB of disk a month (prorated daily) and $0.05 per GB of CDN bandwidth, according to Kinsta's overage documentation (last updated March 9, 2026). Plan-limit emails go out at 80% and 100% of usage, and at 110% for visits. Upgrading doesn't apply retroactively, so overages already incurred still bill.
Kinsta also defines an extreme overage as one as large as your plan's price or $500, whichever is less. In that case it may require immediate payment or an upgrade before your renewal date, and may temporarily limit access until it's resolved. On the $35 entry plan, that threshold is $35 of overage, or 70,000 extra visits.
Costs to plan for
Add-ons that change the monthly bill
Kinsta's base plans include daily backups, staging and the CDN, but several common extras are priced per site per month on its pricing page: extra WordPress sites ($30), 20 GB of extra disk ($20), backups every 6 hours ($20) or every hour ($100), external backups to Amazon or Google storage ($2 plus $1 per GB), premium staging environments ($20 each), Redis caching ($100), a reverse proxy ($50), extra PHP memory ($10 per 500 MB) and Kinsta Automatic Updates with visual regression checks ($3 per environment).
For a typical small-business site, the base plan is enough. A busy store that wants hourly backups and Redis would add $200 a month to a $35 plan, at which point Pressable's included hourly database backups or a larger plan elsewhere may cost less.
Scoring
How the score is built
BestStacked weights five sub-scores: ease of use 20%, features 25%, pricing 20%, support 15% and integrations 20%. For Kinsta they come only from Kinsta's own pricing page and documentation, not from testing, and sit on the same scale as our Pressable review (8.0). Ease of use 8.4: free migrations, one-click staging, a single dashboard with plan-usage charts and limit alerts, and a choice of meter. Features 8.6: managed WAF, a 260+ location CDN, an APM tool, SSO, an API and free malware removal on every plan. Pricing 6.8: the lowest overage rates we found and no renewal step-up, offset by a higher entry price than Pressable, 10 GB of storage on the entry plan, the highest multi-site prices of the three managed hosts and paid add-ons for faster backups and Redis. Support 8.4: 24/7 human support in eight languages and a published 30-day money-back guarantee. Integrations 7.8: API, SSO, Cloudflare, external backup targets and multisite on larger plans, but WordPress only. That works out to 8.0 out of 10.
