Quick answer
What is Moz Pro, and is it worth paying for?
Moz is the SEO software company (SEOMoz, Inc., owned by Ziff Davis) behind Domain Authority. Moz Pro is its main subscription: keyword research, backlink research, a site crawler, weekly rank tracking, competitive research and AI search visibility tracking in one web app. It's worth paying for if you want those jobs covered by one tool that's easier to learn than the biggest suites, and you can live with weekly rank updates and fixed monthly query caps. Prices run from $49 a month (Starter, one site) to $299 a month (Large), with 20% off yearly on Standard, Medium and Large. Prices were checked on Moz's pricing page on October 13, 2026.
- Best for
- Small businesses and in-house marketers tracking a handful of sites, and small agencies that need branded reports for up to 10 or 25 Campaigns.
- Skip it if
- You need daily rank tracking, more than 3 users without paying $49 a month per extra seat, or API access, which Moz sells separately.
- Strongest capability
- Link research: Link Explorer, Domain Authority, Page Authority, Spam Score and Link Intersect for up to five competitors, backed by an index Moz puts at over 40 trillion links.
- Biggest limitation
- Rankings update weekly, and every plan meters keyword queries, backlink queries, pages crawled and lists. Moz offers no refunds, and the free trial covers only the Medium monthly plan.
The Verdict
Moz Pro covers the core SEO jobs in one subscription: Keyword Explorer for keyword research, Link Explorer for backlinks, Site Crawl for technical audits, Campaigns for weekly rank tracking and reports, and Competitive Research for keyword gaps. Its link metrics, Domain Authority and Page Authority, are widely used shorthand for comparing sites, and Moz is clear that DA is its own predictive score, not a Google ranking factor. The 2026 plans add AI visibility dashboards that track prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. The trade-offs are metered usage on every plan, weekly rather than daily rank updates, extra seats at $49 a month, an API sold separately, a trial limited to the Medium monthly plan, and a no-refunds policy. Semrush's and Ahrefs' entry plans list more tracked keywords per dollar, and Semrush says it tracks them daily. We score Moz Pro 8.2/10.
Best for
Small businesses, in-house marketers and small agencies that want a single, approachable SEO toolkit with strong link metrics and simple Campaign reporting.

The Background
What Is Moz Pro?
Moz is an SEO software company with offices in Seattle and Vancouver; its site footer names SEOMoz, Inc., a Ziff Davis company. It sells several separate products. Moz Pro, reviewed here, is the subscription SEO toolkit: Campaigns (each tracks one site plus three competitors), Keyword Explorer, Link Explorer, Site Crawl, Rank Tracker, Competitive Research, Domain Overview, On-Page Grader, custom reports, AI visibility tracking and the MozBar Chrome extension. Moz Local is a separate per-location listings, reviews and local social product. The Moz API sells Moz's link and keyword data by the row and isn't included in Moz Pro. STAT is a separate, demo-led daily rank tracker for large keyword sets. Domain Authority, Page Authority, Spam Score and Brand Authority are Moz's own metrics, shown across these products. Moz says 500,000 marketers trust Moz Pro; that is Moz's figure, not an independent count.
The Product
Moz Pro Features: What You Actually Get
Keyword Explorer
Keyword Explorer shows monthly volume, Difficulty, Organic CTR, the minimum Domain Authority on page one and a search-intent label generated by Moz AI. It also lists the keywords any site already ranks for and groups suggestions by topic. Moz says its data covers 1.25 billion keyword suggestions, 180 million ranking keywords and 170 Google search engines. Plans cap usage: 75 keyword queries a month on Starter, 150 on Standard, 5,000 on Medium and 15,000 on Large.
A small business owner checks which keywords their site ranks 11th to 20th for, then picks three pages to refresh first.
Link Explorer and Domain Authority
Link Explorer reports inbound links, linking domains, anchor text, top pages, discovered and lost links, Spam Score, Domain Authority and Page Authority. Link Intersect compares up to five other sites' backlink profiles with yours to find domains that link to competitors but not to you. Moz's navigation describes the index as over 40 trillion links. Backlink queries are capped at 75 a month on Starter, 5,000 on Standard, 20,000 on Medium and 70,000 on Large.
An in-house marketer runs Link Intersect against three competitors to build an outreach list of industry sites that already link to them.
Site Crawl and On-Demand Crawl
Site Crawl audits each Campaign site and groups issues into critical crawler issues, warnings, redirects, metadata and content problems, with instructions for fixes. On-Demand Crawl rechecks a site to confirm a fix. Crawl budgets are weekly: 5,000 pages on Starter, 100,000 on Standard, 500,000 on Medium and 1.25 million on Large. Starter has no on-demand crawls and Standard has five a month.
A web developer re-crawls a client site after fixing redirect chains, to confirm the errors cleared before the monthly report.
Rank tracking
Campaigns track rankings on Google, Google Mobile, Bing and Yahoo, nationally or for a local market, and Moz's help hub says they update weekly. Each Campaign also tracks three competitors. Tracked keywords are 50 on Starter, 300 on Standard, 1,500 on Medium and 3,000 on Large. Rank Checker adds on-demand lookups: none on Starter, 200 a day on Standard and Medium, and 500 on Large.
A local service business tracks 40 keywords in its city and two competitors, and reviews the weekly movement in a scheduled report.
Competitive research and Domain Overview
Competitive Research finds a competitor's top keywords and best-performing pages and shows keyword gaps; Domain Overview gives a one-screen summary of a site's authority, ranking keywords and top pages. Monthly limits are 20 competitive research queries and 20 Domain Overviews on Starter, 50 and 50 on Standard, 75 and 100 on Medium, and 100 and 180 on Large.
A marketer compares a new competitor's top pages with their own to decide which comparison articles to write next.
AI visibility tracking
AI Visibility dashboards track how often your brand appears in answers to prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Perplexity, with sentiment and citation data. Tracking is weekly. Standard includes 3 dashboards and 150 prompts, Medium 6 and 300, and Large 12 and 600; extra dashboards cost $20 each and extra prompts $50 per 100. Starter has none.
A brand team tracks 100 buying-question prompts weekly to see whether AI answers mention them alongside competitors.

The Numbers
Moz Pro Pricing: Every Plan Explained
Moz Pro has four self-serve plans plus Enterprise. Standard, Medium and Large are 20% cheaper when you pay yearly; Moz's pricing page shows the yearly price as a monthly figure. The Starter plan appears on the pricing page at $49 a month with no yearly price shown. A Campaign is one tracked site plus three competitors. Prices and limits below are from Moz's pricing page and its Starter plan help article, checked October 13, 2026, in USD and before tax.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Included Features | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $49/mo | Not listed | 1 user, 1 Campaign, 50 tracked keywords, 5,000 pages crawled a week, 75 keyword queries and 75 backlink queries a month, 20 competitive research queries, 1 keyword list of 25; no on-demand crawls, Rank Checker, link tracking lists or AI visibility | One person managing one site |
| Standard | $99/mo | $79/mo billed yearly | 1 user, 3 Campaigns, 300 tracked keywords, 100,000 pages crawled a week, 150 keyword and 5,000 backlink queries a month, 5 on-demand crawls, 200 Rank Checker queries a day, 3 AI dashboards and 150 prompts; no branded reports | Small businesses with a few sites |
| MediumBest value | $179/mo | $143/mo billed yearly | 2 users, 10 Campaigns, 1,500 tracked keywords, 500,000 pages crawled a week, 5,000 keyword and 20,000 backlink queries a month, 30 keyword and 30 link lists, branded reports and templates, 6 AI dashboards and 300 prompts. The only plan with a free trial | In-house teams and small agencies |
| Large | $299/mo | $239/mo billed yearly | 3 users, 25 Campaigns, 3,000 tracked keywords, 1.25M pages crawled a week, 15,000 keyword and 70,000 backlink queries a month, 500 Rank Checker queries a day, 12 AI dashboards and 600 prompts | Agencies and larger sites |
| Enterprise | Quoted | Quoted | Moz Enterprise for enterprise businesses and agencies; contact sales | Large organizations |
At yearly rates, Standard works out to $948 a year, Medium $1,716 and Large $2,868 (our arithmetic from Moz's monthly-equivalent prices). Seats are the cost that grows fastest: extra users are $49 a month each on any plan, so a two-person team on Standard pays $148 a month billed monthly, close to Medium's $179, which already includes two users plus far higher keyword-query, crawl and Campaign limits. Starter's 75 keyword queries a month suits occasional checks, not regular research. Other add-ons, per Moz's pricing FAQ: $10 a month per extra Campaign, $15 per 50,000 pages crawled, $20 per 200 tracked keywords, $10 per 10,000 keyword queries, and $25 per 5 keyword lists or 5 link tracking lists. Overages aren't included in plan prices. Nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status can apply for a discount; Moz says it has no student discount. On October 13, 2026, a banner on Moz's Keyword Explorer page advertised savings of up to 40% ending that day; the pricing page didn't show that offer, so the prices above are the standard ones.

Moz vs Moz Pro vs Moz Local vs the Moz API vs STAT
Moz is the company. Moz Pro is its SEO toolkit and the subject of this review. Moz's pricing FAQ says Moz Local is a separate product with its own subscription, so buying one doesn't include the other.
Moz Local manages business listings, reviews and local social posts, priced per physical location: Lite $20 a month or $199 a year, Preferred $30 or $299, and Elite $40 or $399, with custom Enterprise pricing for 50 or more locations. Moz says it supports listings in the US, UK and Canada.
The Moz API sells Moz's link and keyword data by the row. A free tier allows 50 rows a month at one request every ten seconds; Starter costs $20 a month for 3,000 rows or $75 for 15,000, Growth $125 to $500 for 50,000 to 500,000 rows, and Enterprise is quoted. Moz's API FAQ says no paid API access is included in Moz Pro. Every API plan lists MCP access in beta, which connects AI clients to Moz data.
STAT is Moz's daily rank tracker for large keyword sets, sold through a demo. Moz says tracking starts at $360 a month for 3,000 weekly prompts or daily keywords. If weekly rank updates in Moz Pro are too slow for you, STAT is Moz's own answer, at a different price point.
Metrics
What Domain Authority is, and what it isn't
Domain Authority (DA) is a score from 1 to 100 that Moz calculates with a machine-learning model, mainly from link data, to predict how likely a site is to rank compared with other sites. Page Authority does the same for a single page.
Moz states plainly that Domain Authority is not a Google ranking factor and has no effect on search results. Use it to compare sites and to prioritize link prospects, not as a target. Raising your DA doesn't guarantee better rankings, and no tool can promise a particular DA or ranking outcome.
Free Moz Community accounts can see DA, Page Authority, Spam Score and other link metrics in Link Explorer, limited to 10 queries a month, according to Moz's Link Explorer page.
Who it fits
Agencies vs small businesses
Small businesses: Starter covers one site with 50 tracked keywords, which is enough to watch a local service business's core terms but not to do ongoing keyword research. Standard ($79 a month billed yearly) is the more practical entry point: three sites, 300 keywords, 150 keyword queries and AI visibility tracking. Its one-user limit is the catch if two people share the work.
Agencies: branded reports and report templates start on Medium, so client-facing work realistically starts there (10 Campaigns, 2 users). Large adds 25 Campaigns and 3 users. Agencies with local clients add Moz Local per location, and those that need daily rankings across thousands of keywords are steered to STAT. An agency with more than three people on the account pays $49 a month for each extra seat.
Either way, Campaigns update weekly, so Moz Pro suits reporting cycles measured in weeks rather than day-to-day rank monitoring.

Where Moz's own pages differ
Trial length: Moz's signup page says "Start My Free 7-Day Trial" and "full access for 7 days", while its help hub article on the free trial explains the terms without stating a length and says to check the end date in your account. Confirm the date after you sign up.
Support: the pricing comparison table lists "24/7 Support" on every plan, while the same page's feature list describes "24-hour online support" with "same-day support from a real person".
Crawl limits: plan cards state pages crawled per month (400,000 on Standard, 2 million on Medium, 5 million on Large), while the comparison table states them per week (100,000, 500,000 and 1.25 million). The figures match at four weeks a month; we quote the weekly numbers.
Cancellation: the pricing FAQ says you can cancel or change plans at any time, "no questions asked". The help hub adds that cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, that Moz offers no refunds of any kind, and that you must cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge.

The Audience
Who Should Use Moz Pro?
Best for: small businesses and in-house marketers
If one or two people handle SEO for a few sites, Standard or Medium covers keyword research, link research, audits and weekly rankings without a long learning curve, and Moz's Academy and Help Hub fill knowledge gaps.
Best for: link-focused research
Teams that prospect for links or vet partner sites get Domain Authority, Spam Score and Link Intersect in the same tool they use for keywords and audits.
Skip if: you need daily data and many seats
Large SEO teams and agencies with many users, daily rank-tracking needs or API workflows will pay for add-on seats, STAT and the Moz API on top of Moz Pro. Compare the all-in cost with Semrush or Ahrefs first.
The Methodology
How We Reviewed Moz Pro
This is an editorial review, not a documented hands-on test. We didn't use a Moz Pro account for this review. It's based on Moz's pricing page and comparison table, its Moz Pro, Keyword Explorer and Link Explorer pages, its help hub articles on the free trial, the Starter plan, cancellation, rankings and Google Analytics, its Domain Authority guide, the Moz Local, Moz API and STAT pages, and Moz's 7-day trial signup page, all checked on October 13, 2026. We didn't sign in, so in-app limits and screens weren't checked. Where Moz's pages differ, as on trial length and support hours, we report both statements. No data-accuracy, ranking or traffic results are claimed.
Our editorial evaluation considers product information, official documentation, pricing, features and professional experience. It is not a claim of documented hands-on testing.

The Field
Moz Pro vs The Competition
Moz Pro competes with all-in-one SEO suites and, for content teams, with on-page optimization tools. Prices below were checked on each vendor's pricing page on October 13, 2026.
| Tool | Starting Price | Free plan | Best Feature | BS Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Moz Pro | Starter $49/mo; Standard $99/mo ($79/mo billed yearly) | No | Keyword Explorer | 8.2/10 |
| Semrush | Free plan; SEO $139/mo ($117.33/mo billed annually) | Yes | Daily rank tracking and a broad marketing suite | Not yet reviewed |
| Ahrefs | Free (Ahrefs Free); Starter $29/mo; Lite $129/mo | Yes | Backlink and keyword data with API and MCP access on paid plans | Not yet reviewed |
| Surfer SEO | Discovery $49/mo billed yearly | No | On-page content optimization | 8.6/10 |
Semrush: Semrush's SEO plan lists 5 websites and 500 keywords tracked daily at $139 a month, and its free plan allows 10 reports a day. Moz Pro's Standard plan costs less ($99, or $79 yearly) but tracks 300 keywords weekly. Pick Semrush if you need daily rankings and more marketing tools in one account; pick Moz Pro for a simpler toolkit at a lower entry price.Visit Semrush
Ahrefs: Ahrefs Lite ($129 a month) lists 5 projects, 750 tracked keywords and API and MCP access for one user; Starter at $29 covers keyword and competitor research. Moz Pro's link metrics (Domain Authority, Spam Score) are its closest match to Ahrefs' backlink focus, but Moz sells API access separately.
Surfer SEO: Surfer optimizes individual articles against the search results; it isn't a backlink or technical-crawl tool. Content teams often pair an on-page tool like Surfer with a suite like Moz Pro rather than choosing one.Read our Surfer SEO review →
In The Wild
How People Actually Use Moz Pro
A local service business owner
Start on Starter ($49) to track 50 local keywords for one site, and move to Standard when you need regular keyword research or a second site. Add Moz Local per location if listings and reviews matter more than rankings.
An in-house content marketer
Use Keyword Explorer's ranking-keywords view to find pages ranking just outside the top 10, Site Crawl to clear technical issues, and AI visibility tracking to see whether ChatGPT and Google AI Mode mention the brand.
A five-client agency
Medium's 10 Campaigns and branded report templates cover five clients with room for prospects. Budget $49 a month for each team member beyond two, and check whether weekly rank updates suit your clients' reporting expectations.
The Ecosystem
Moz Pro Integrations
Moz Pro's integrations are few and centered on its own tools; data access for other systems goes through the separately sold Moz API.
- →Google Analytics (connect per Campaign; needs GA admin access)
- →MozBar Chrome extension (MozBar Premium included in Moz Pro)
- →Scheduled and branded reports (branded from Medium)
- →CSV exports of rankings and link data
- →Moz API with MCP server in beta (separate subscription)
- →Moz Local for listings and reviews (separate subscription)
Moz's help hub documents the Google Analytics connection for Moz Pro Campaigns; we didn't find a native Google Search Console or Looker Studio connector in its Moz Pro help section when checked on October 13, 2026. Agency reporting tools such as AgencyAnalytics list Moz among their integrations.
Common Questions
Moz Pro FAQ
The Final Word
Should You Use Moz Pro?
Moz Pro is a sensible single subscription for small businesses, in-house marketers and small agencies: it covers keyword research, backlinks, technical audits, weekly rank tracking and competitive research, and now AI visibility tracking, with clearly published limits. Medium is the plan to evaluate for most teams, since it's the only one with a free trial and the first with branded reports and two users. Check the limits that matter to you before you commit, because Moz meters queries, crawls and seats, updates rankings weekly and doesn't refund payments. Treat Domain Authority as a comparison metric, not a goal. We score Moz Pro 8.2/10.
Yes, if
You want keyword, link, audit and rank tools in one approachable subscription for a few sites, and weekly ranking updates fit your reporting.
No, if
You need daily rankings, many seats or API access in one price, or only on-page content optimization.
