    The Short Answer

Pick CallRail if phone calls are your main lead source and you want bundled numbers and minutes, packaged AI call analysis and a trial without a card. Its Lead Tracking plan is $50 a month billed yearly ($55 monthly) with 5 local numbers and 250 minutes, and AI summaries and lead scoring start at $150. Pick WhatConverts if leads also arrive through forms, chats and online orders: its $60 Plus plan tracks all of them in one list, every plan includes phone support, and agencies can buy unlimited client accounts from $500 a month. Both have unlimited users. Neither was tested hands-on; this compares published plans as of October 10, 2026.

    The 5 Rounds

    Where each tool actually wins

    Round 1 / Call Tracking

Round 1: Numbers, minutes and keyword attribution

    Winner — CallRail

Both swap tracking numbers into your site with dynamic number insertion, record calls on every plan and tie each call to its source and keyword. The difference is in what the base price includes.

    • 01Every CallRail plan includes 5 local numbers and 250 minutes with transcription; extra local numbers are $3 and minutes $0.06.
    • 02WhatConverts plans include a $30 usage credit instead: extra local numbers are $2.50 and minutes 4.5 cents, with transcription billed at 2 cents a minute.
    • 03CallRail lists 17 transcription languages (English only on HIPAA accounts); WhatConverts doesn't publish a language list.
    • 04Both send call conversions to Google Ads. CallRail's help center says this needs visitor-level tracking with a website pool.

    Round 2 / Forms, Chats & Sales

Round 2: Tracking leads that don't start with a call

    Winner — WhatConverts
    • 01WhatConverts tracks forms, chats and Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce transactions from its $60 Plus plan, at 10 cents each beyond the credit.
    • 02CallRail's form tracking starts on Lead Tracking Complete at $95 a month billed yearly ($105 monthly), with 1,000 submissions included.
    • 03CallRail doesn't list chat or e-commerce transaction tracking.
    • 04Both put calls and forms on one timeline per lead; multi-touch attribution is on CallRail's Complete plans and WhatConverts' Elite plans.

    Round 3 / AI & Qualification

Round 3: Summaries, scoring and lead values

    Winner — CallRail
    • 01CallRail's Lead Conversion plans ($150 a month billed yearly) add AI summaries and sentiment, lead scoring, automatic conversion tagging and coaching, with 10,000 analysis minutes included.
    • 02WhatConverts' AI Lead Analysis is billed by usage, which it estimates at about 5 to 6 cents for a three-minute call.
    • 03WhatConverts' rules-based lead scoring and Ask AI rules sit in Lead Intelligence, on Elite ($160 a month) only.
    • 04WhatConverts includes quote and sales value fields on every plan and can send only qualified leads to Google Ads.

    Round 4 / Integrations & Agencies

Round 4: Ad platforms, CRMs and client accounts

    Round called a tie
    • 01Both connect to Google Ads, GA4, Microsoft Ads, Meta, HubSpot, Looker Studio and AgencyAnalytics, and both offer an API and webhooks.

    • 04WhatConverts has unlimited users on every plan and agency plans with unlimited client accounts from $500 a month, plus white label for $50.

    Round 5 / Price, Trial & Support

Round 5: What you pay and who answers

    Round called a tie

    The Verdict

    Overall winner: Tie

There's no single winner here, because the two tools are built around different lead mixes. CallRail is the cleaner choice for phone-first businesses: its base plan bundles 5 local numbers and 250 transcribed minutes, Google Ads and GA4 integrations are included, its 14-day trial needs no card, and the Lead Conversion plans package AI summaries, lead scoring and conversion tagging from $150 a month billed yearly. Watch the extra cost of form tracking, the $80 Salesforce integration and the lock-in of annual plans. WhatConverts is the better fit when leads arrive through several channels. Its $60 Plus plan tracks forms, chats and transactions with calls, every plan includes phone support and unlimited users, HIPAA starts at $100, and agencies get unlimited client accounts from $500. The trade-offs are monthly-only pricing, a usage credit that takes some reading, and lead scoring only on Elite. If you're unsure, run both trials on the same campaign for two weeks and compare the leads each one attributes.

    If you only have $20

WhatConverts Call Tracking ($30/mo) for light call volume; CallRail Lead Tracking ($55/mo) if you need more numbers and minutes included.

    If money's not the issue

CallRail Lead Conversion Complete for AI call analysis; WhatConverts Elite or an agency plan for multi-channel lead scoring and many clients.
