Two AI meeting assistants compared on capture methods, free plans, CRM sync, privacy and price, using each vendor's published plans.

    The Short Answer

Fathom is the easier default for most teams: its free plan records and transcribes without a cap, and its Business plan ($25 per user a month billed annually) writes call insights into CRM fields. MeetGeek is the better fit when meetings happen on many platforms, in person or in several languages. It records with a bot, without one through its Chrome extension and Mac and Windows apps, or on your phone, says it covers 100+ languages, and connects to seven CRMs from its $9.99 Pro plan. Its free plan, though, stops at 3 hours a month. Neither was tested hands-on; this compares published plans as of October 10, 2026.

    The 5 Rounds

    Where each tool actually wins

    Round 1 / Capture & Platforms

Round 1: How each one gets into your meetings

    Winner — MeetGeek

Both send a bot to Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. The difference is everything else: bot-free capture, other platforms and in-person meetings.

    • 01MeetGeek records bot-free through a Chrome extension it says is invisible to other participants, and through desktop apps for macOS and Windows that also cover Webex, Slack Huddles and WhatsApp Desktop.
    • 02MeetGeek's mobile app records in-person meetings offline for up to 4 hours, and every plan can upload audio or video files.
    • 03Fathom offers bot-free capture as a beta feature for Mac; its help center says Windows is coming.
    • 04Fathom says it works across Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and lists no other meeting platforms.

    Round 2 / Free Plan

Round 2: What you get for $0

    Winner — Fathom
    • 01Fathom's free plan has unlimited recording, transcription and storage, with basic AI summaries on every call.
    • 02Fathom limits advanced summaries to your first 5 calls each month on Free, and AI action items are paid-only.
    • 03MeetGeek's free Basic plan covers 3 hours of transcription a month, meetings up to 2 hours and 3 months of transcript storage.
    • 04MeetGeek's free plan has no integrations, though its API and MCP server are listed from Basic.

    Round 3 / Languages & AI

Round 3: Transcripts, summaries and questions across meetings

    Winner — MeetGeek
    • 01MeetGeek says it transcribes 100+ languages with automatic detection; Fathom's help center says it supports transcripts in 38 languages.
    • 02Both write AI summaries and next steps. Custom templates start on MeetGeek Pro; on Fathom, the pricing page conflicts on whether custom summaries are on Business or Enterprise only.
    • 03Fathom's account-wide Ask Fathom, which answers questions across all calls, is labelled a beta and is limited on Free.
    • 04MeetGeek's help center says every plan can chat with its meetings, with 20 requests a day; its pricing page lists unlimited AI Chat on Business, so the limit depends on which page you read.

    Round 4 / CRM & Integrations

Round 4: Getting call notes where your team works

    Winner — MeetGeek
    • 01MeetGeek connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM, Attio, Affinity and Close from its $9.99 Pro plan, plus Slack, Notion, Confluence, Asana, monday.com, ClickUp, Trello and Jira.
    • 02Fathom syncs with Salesforce, HubSpot and Close, but CRM syncs are capped at 3 users per email domain below its Business plan.
    • 03Fathom Business ($25 per user a month billed annually, 2-user minimum) adds CRM field sync, Deal View and coaching metrics.
    • 04Both offer a public API and MCP access on every plan. Zapier and Make start on MeetGeek Pro, and Fathom limits them on Free and Premium.

    Round 5 / Privacy & Price

Round 5: AI training, admin controls and what teams pay

    Round called a tie
    • 01MeetGeek says it doesn't use meeting content to train AI models, its own or its providers', unless you opt in in writing.
    • 02Fathom says it uses de-identified customer data to improve its own models, and you can opt out in settings; team admins can opt out the whole organization.
    • 03Both say they're SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant. Fathom lists a signed HIPAA BAA on Enterprise; MeetGeek offers BAAs to qualifying customers.
    • 04Per seat on annual billing: MeetGeek Pro $9.99 vs Fathom Premium $16; for teams, Fathom Team $15 (2-user minimum) vs MeetGeek Business $17 with unlimited hours. SSO is Enterprise-only on both, and Fathom Enterprise is now quote-based.

    The Verdict

    Overall winner: Tie

For most teams starting out, Fathom is the simpler choice. Its free plan records and transcribes every Zoom, Meet and Teams call without a cap, summaries arrive right after the call, and its Business plan gives sales teams CRM field sync at $25 per user a month billed annually. The things to watch are the 3-user cap on CRM syncs below Business, advanced summaries limited to 5 calls a month on Free, and bot-free capture that's still a Mac beta. MeetGeek wins when your meetings don't fit neatly into Zoom, Meet and Teams. Its bot-free Chrome extension, Mac and Windows apps and mobile recording cover more situations, it says it transcribes 100+ languages to Fathom's 38, and its Pro plan connects to seven CRMs and a long list of work tools for $9.99 a month billed annually. The cost of that flexibility is hour caps: 3 hours a month free, 20 on Pro, unlimited only from Business at $17. If you're unsure, try Fathom's free plan and MeetGeek's 14-day Business trial on the same week of meetings.

    If you only have $20

Fathom Free, for unlimited recording and transcription at $0.

    If money's not the issue

Fathom Business for Salesforce or HubSpot sales teams; MeetGeek Business for multilingual or cross-platform teams.
